The Dr {Mario} is in!

Friday, May 6th, 2016

This blogger has been pretty unwell recently (hence the lack of posts – many apologies, Sprite Stitch readers!) with various ailments. Because of that, I went on a little discovery tour of the internet, looking for Dr. Mario stuff! I’m not sure I would entrust my health to this particular doctor, but I did find a few nice items to share!

3D printed Samus costume

Monday, October 27th, 2014

According to Nerdist, “Replica Props Forum (RPF) user Talaaya built the Varia suit from Metroid Prime 3 by 3D printing many of the pieces…Talaaya spent several months working on the project and initially planned to make the armor using the pepakura method… Luckily for Talaaya, her friend Matt Serle bought a couple of 3D printers – specifically the ZPrinter 450. She only had to pay for materials but estimates that still cost around $1,200 just for that. Still worth it since there’s nothing like the accuracy you get from a 3D printer. Matt spent hundreds of hours on the project…That’s only the beginning of the build though. Talaaya documented the entire process at RPF and at Reddit. She only 3D printed the helmet, shoulders, chest, arm cannon, and forearm armor pieces. The rest of the suit was made from craft foam and covered in Worbla. She used a magical combination of Bondo, gesso, and Apoxie sculpt to coat the Worbla and smooth it out before adding paint. Yes,cosplayers are amazing.”

Amigurumi Yoshi… costume!

The Escapist said, “In honor of Nintendo’s recently announced yarn-spun platformer, Yoshi’s Woolly World, SmallRiniLady spent 35 hours crocheting a Yoshi costume.” Wowie zowie. I think it’s pretty amazing! I also found this photo while searching for info:

Um, and this one:

It looks like they had fun! Apparently this was all at PAX Prime last month in Seattle.

8-bit Sweatshirts

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, cooler weather is here. Well, it should be. It’s still hot where I live…. *grumble.* Anyway, here are some cute sweatshirts from OASAP. They’re not official, so the names are pretty funny. The best is the Game Boy sweatshirt’s name: Grey Digital Calculator. LOL.
