I’m declaring this week Etsy Week! I’m sure you’ve all noticed the explosion of video game related crafts on etsy in the last year or so…I like to think that Sprite Stitch had a tiny bit to do with that, and so I’m going to spend the week honoring many of the etsy sellers that are out there…

Just out of curiosity- can you really be allowed to sell artwork that contains characters that belong to Nintendo?

saunders, thats a question ive asked myself a bunch…
im sure if you asked nintendo theyd say no…but, if you look on etsy and other sites youll see 100s of people selling crafts.
im sure the distinction is the quantity. selling some homemade cross stitches of mario is no big deal. but if a chain store started selling mario shirts in major quantities theyd be cutting into nintendo profits and make them mad…
by selling a few crafts were actually just advertising for nintendo, and I doubt they mind. stopping it would actually hurt their sales I believe…
