Adam Adamowicz Concept Artist

Ever since Adam Adamowicz (Bethesda concept artist) died last month of lung cancer, I’ve wanted to find something truly worthy to celebrate his art. So instead of a few blog posts today, we’re going to ask you to look into some of his most famous work over at the Bethesda flickr.
This is a truly astonishing series of artworks. Get yourself over to the full 809 picture gallery now.

This wealth of images contains everything from early pre-production sketches (of massive vaults) to story boards and detailed sketches of in game statues, people and environments. There are also his own personal sayings attached to some, like the well put “Nothing says apocalypse like sock garters.”

It contains some trying awesome information too. Like who knew that the brotherhood had under armour padding, mole rats were going to be rideable, fat mans were to be named after a giant burger mascot and all double-barrelled shotguns used to have teeth attached to the grip.

Not only that, but you can really see where the inspiration came from. Hint; star wars, oliver twist, batman, mad max and  metropolis to name but a few. And you can really see how all the ideas he couldn’t get into Fallout 3, he managed to sneak into New Vegas.
Heck, if your still reading this and aren’t there, I think there’s something wrong with you.

Not content with just fallout, here are slightly smaller sets featuring his work on possible Oblivion DLCs, and Skyrim concepts.

In memory of Adam Adamowicz.
