Mario Tanooki Amigurumi

well, this is really too cute for words…I’m doing my best to ignore the fact that tanooki mario is holding a raccoon leaf in his hand, which is hopefully not trying to imply that a leaf turns mario into a tanooki. but either way this mario is too cute for words!

It would be awfully cute if Tanooki Mario was holding a tiny Tanooki.

Actually, its traditional Japanese folklore that Tanukis turn things (generally money and other precious objects they steal…) into leaves to hide from people. And I believe “raccoon Mario” is still a version of a Tanuki, but Americans are unaware of the famed raccoon-dog native to Japan and much of Asia.

Just your [extra]nerdy fact of the day :)

sarah, THAT is interesting…I didnt know tanuki actually meant something. come to think of it, I guess the whole leaf thing never made sense…
