Garth said the key point of a writer is to read as much as possible and not just in your own genre, but all over the place even articles in magazines can help find your style. You are influenced by everything that goes on around you and everything you read.
Also, in his opinion, a new map in each book is vital for a fantasy book. and of course in Clariel there was a beautiful new map of the Capital Beliseare in it's glory days.

I know right!!! Have no idea when it'll be done or when it'll come out, but he definitely said he was in the middle of writing a book set after the Abhorsen trilogy, I hope there's more of Lirael, she's my favourite character, and the Clayrs library, amazing!!
