Garth said the key point of a writer is to read as much as possible and not just in your own genre, but all over the place even articles in magazines can help find your style. You are influenced by everything that goes on around you and everything you read.

Also, in his opinion, a new map in each book is vital for a fantasy book. and of course in Clariel there was a beautiful new map of the Capital Beliseare in it's glory days. :)

I know right!!! Have no idea when it'll be done or when it'll come out, but he definitely said he was in the middle of writing a book set after the Abhorsen trilogy, I hope there's more of Lirael, she's my favourite character, and the Clayrs library, amazing!! :yahoo:

Me too! I actually did a search for Starry Night because I thought the blues in the painting would look really good with his brindle. It's very hard to find cool collars that look good with brindle dogs. LOL! They had the exploding TARDIS as well but I think I made the right call on this one.

We finally have internet again!! Woohooo! After months of being without, it feels kind of weird. The funny part is that the thing I missed most was being able to look up patterns online. (I've spent most of the day on Ravelry since we got reconnected.) :P

And even more awesome news, I designed a crochet pattern and it's going to be published in a magazine next month! I'm super excited.

I had my first actual counseling appointment today! I also took home a packed for adhd testing, so hopefully that's been causing all my symptoms, which the lady seemed to think was the case, and then I can get some medication and stop feeling like crap, which would be nice.

And he signed my cookbook which has some of my favorite recipes as well as family recipes.

He was doing a flash signing for only an hour (he had a show in town that night) and when I found out about it, I literally ran out of the house to get to the spot. He complimented my 4th Doctor's scarf (he's a fellow Whovian) and was really nice. My husband allowed me to get a ticket to the show (they had a "signing" special) and I loved it. I never thought I would have this opportunity to meet one of my favorite chefs, but it happened! Squee! :yahoo:
