Samus - She's strong, independent and totes badass. I heard they made a game to give her more of a backstory but I can't say I know what this game is or even if it exists and I certainly did not buy it, play it for ten minutes and run from the room screaming.

Midna (Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess) - I just always thought she was adorable, even as an imp.

Yuuki Asuna - I know she's not a video game character, but she's a character from Sword Art Online which is an anime about a video game (in the simplest explanation ever). I want to be her because through my days of MMORPG playing, I always wanted to be the badass chick that everyone loved and wanted to be like. I want to be the very best! (insert pokemon reference)

If I HAD to choose another video game character, it would probably be Morrigan from Dragon Age: Origins. Magic + sexiness? Awesome

Princess Toadstool- I've always liked Peach, we're both a little on the annoying side, and I can totally see myself wandering off somewhere and getting kidnapped all the time.

Other- Someone from Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. Probably either Natasha or Cormag. Natasha is such a sweetheart, and I'd love to be a healer or a bishop. Plus, I totally ship her an Joshua, and that'd mean I'd get to marry him if I were her, and be a healer queen, and that would just be awesome. Cormag is one of my favorite characters in the game He has an awesome backstory, and he's a hardcore kind of cool and paired with his sense of justice, he's just really fab. He also gets to fly, and loves kittens.

That should be a corollary question - "Who would you rather be in the context of shipping?" In which case my answer is still Zelda, because I ship her and Midna so hard.

I feel like that is the thought behind too many of my 'would you rather be', and I mean, you never want to be that person that gets stuck with the horrible partner. If you hate a character, you don't want to be their ship XD

Other - Freya from FF9. She's an adorable rat and also a badass and sweet.

Other - Isabella from Dragon Age 2. Saucy wench, rogue, badass, and a great sense of humor.

Other - my half dragon sorc from Neverwinter Nights because not only was she a major badass and had dragon wings but she got Valen and how could you not love that tortured tiefling?!

It annoyed me at first, too, but after a while it just came in handy, because then it sounded less weird when in context of relationships, I said 'Well that ship just sank', or 'That ship has sailed'. It's just simple to use with analogies of actual ships
