Help with a Cooking Mama stitching craft

Hello there!

this year, I plan on stitching a little "cooking mama" themed something for my fabulous cook of a sister (for either Christmas of her birthday). I already have the patterns (found here and adapted a bit ), but I can't find WHERE to stitch them!
Here's what I want to do: I want to stitch one happy smiling Mama (the one you get when you do well in the game), and a "fire-in-the-eyes" Mama (the one you get when you totally screw up in the game). I still don't know if I want to put text ("Perfect! Even better than Mama" and "Don't worry, Mama will fix it!").
I'd like to stitch on something kitchen-related (I was thinking maybe an apron?), but I'd like the two faces of Mama not to be put side by side... I was thinking maybe an oven glove, with a different face on each side, but it means she'll burn at least one of them, which is... well... stupid!
Do you have any (genius) idea on where I could stitch my Mamas?

You could put the faces in something that will protect them - glass, high-temp acrylic, or whatnot - and have them be trivets or spoonrests.

I was trying to think of how to accomplish a reversible apron, but I can't think of how except to basically sew two aprons together. Maybe one face stitched directly onto the apron on side A, and another face stitched onto a panel which is then sewn on side B over the reverse stitch from the first face? And an applique border on side A to cover the stitches resulting from sewing the panel onto side B? If that makes sense at all. <.<; So side A has happy Mama and a cute border, but side B has angry Mama on a dynamic fabric panel. Or whatever.

I like the "reversible apron" idea, but it means I'll have to saw... Hem... It may be a problem... I'm an average stitcher (I guess) but it's about the ONLY thing I can do with my hands. Last time I tried to saw something, well... I'd rather not think about it...

what if you just gave her a set of 2 oven gloves? Who doesn't need more oven gloves?? Unless She already has 50...

Or... well towels would get dirty. Trivets or spoon rests do sound cool...


There is the apron idea with making it two sided. or you could make 2 up to you. That is even more hemming though.

Or and I'm not entirely sure how you'd do this... but if you could make them as the front and back cover of her own recipe book (where your friend could keep recipes she likes) that would be cool but I'm not sure how you'd do it so I'm not all that useful. sorry.

I think I'm going to stitch an apron with the "happy Mama", and a glove with the "burning Mama". Preferably matching. What do you think?
A spoon rest or a trivet sound cool indeed, but I don't really know how to make them. Can I "just" put my cloth between two glass panels, or should it be some special heat-proof glass? How do I fix it? Where can I buy it?

@blackberrybear: This is so cool! I had no idea something like this existed! So, now I have to find someone selling it in France, so that this gift doesn't get too expensive... I think I'll start with apron+glove (which are not THAT easy to find either), and do an extra trivet IF I find one here.
