I am a bit jealous of your ghost house though...

I'm just colour filling page 2/20

Yours looks really great!

I actually am working downwards because the left side is a little uncomfortable for me. The scrolls that I'm using are just *barely* big enough, at 40", so working the left side is not always fun. I may work across, once I get this first column finished, but I haven't decided for sure.

I wish I had more time for stitching. :sorry:

This looks so amazing! Don't envy you stitching all that ocean, though

Man...I absolutely love this pattern and have been gathering the funds to try and start since earlier this year and finally have begun to buy the fabric I need.

:yahoo:

Once I finish, I am so hanging it out in the garage where we do D&D. :Luigi :Mario

That being said, anyone have any sage advice before I actually start to attempt this? Any at all would be much appreciated.

Decide which version of the pattern that you'd like to do. The colors on the original are slightly different from FunkyMonkey's, so if you like the idea of also doing the mini maps, then be careful to stick with those maps throughout the entire process. If you like the original, and plan to do the world map as a stand-alone piece, then you can do that one. I did a small test swatch of each before I made my decision, and they're both stunning. I wanted to do the mini maps also, so I went with the newer version. :mush

There is a LOT of blue ocean. If you're the type that goes crazy over endless amounts of color, then it might be good to look through the thread and see who dyed their fabric that blue. I can't remember who did it, or where it is exactly, but I know it's in there somewhere! There are days and days and days of blue. :swoon:

That's really the only thing that I can think of. I really love working on this piece, though I've had to take a break the last few months (ornaments. lots of ornaments. :green Lol).

Also, make sure your fabric has plenty of extra space on each side, just in case you make a good sized counting error. My biggest fear for this one was finding out that I couldn't fit everything on the fabric, even though I calculated everything over and over again. I made four people check my math, and still left more than 3" each side for extra. :tease:

Have fun! This piece is amazing, and you'll be so glad that you started.

yafashelli thank you so much for this! :clapping:

I think I'm going with FunkyMonkey's design because of the minimaps. Looking at the whole thing really brings back memories of playing Super Mario World.

I don't mind spending a lot of time doing one color, though I think my greatest fear is counting errors :banghead: I almost ruined a project by mis-counting.

I'm also not too familiar with dyeing threads, but I'll take a look at the posts to get an idea of what's been done.

Again, thank you soooo much. This helped a lot. :yahoo:

It's the fabric that you'd dye, and not the threads. :)

It's a great project, and I hope that you start, and spam us with lots of pictures along the way. Good luck!

I've made peace with the colour filling (looking at you ocean) as for the most part it's mindless so I can binge tv whole stitching

Believe it or not, I do that, too! I usually pick something that I've seen over and over again, so I don't feel like I have to stop and "watch".
