Congrats, though, a race is a race. I haven't run a 5K in years. I can't get out of bed in the morning to run that short of a distance.
I think if they had stuck to the map they showed online, it would have been fine, but they didn't. The route was completely different which threw us off. Oh well, it's over and done with. I'm sure I'll do another in the future, but I gotta train better. lol.

Sometimes it's the simple problem of a volunteer not knowing which way they are supposed to direct runners. One race I ran, a volunteer directed people to turn right instead of left which cut an entire subdivision off the course.
Other times there could be a conflicting event of some kind which causes last minute course changes.

Congratulations regardless! Getting out there for a race, any race, is a huge confidence builder and motivator. Keep it up and you can come run the race I direct.

Suddenly found myself with a lot of free time and I forgot how good it was xD

Went into work last week of August planning to work and ended up helping pack up the entire store. Apparently the lease for our branch of the company was up last day of August and boss man decided we weren't making enough money to stay open anymore. Thankfully he decided that since I was online sales I could work from home (which if you hear my mum talk about it, it's supposed to be rare for someone under the age of 30 to do so? IDK).

So now instead of having no time on my hands due to work/commuting, I have a crap ton now with no idea on what to do with myself.

That just makes it even better huh? Nothing can ruin a job and a day at it like some people there who actually don't enjoy it.

Bad news is this week, good news is the weekend.

The Cheltenham Literature Festival is back on and I'm hopefully gonna see Garth Nix talk about his new book Clariel and then me and my brother are going to an event on Marvel comics on Sunday. It shall be my reward for this week. Either it'll be a pick-me-up or a celebration, heres hoping it'll be the latter...

Ps. Who was it I said I'd get Garth Nix signed book for? Want to put your name in, I think we talked about it in the chat box ages ago, cos I can't find it... :p

oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garth Nix was lovely!! a brilliant kindly man with a great sense of humour. He did a reading of a couple of pages!!! He hinted that he was writing another old kingdom book actually set after the Abhorsen trilogy!!!! He gave loads of writing tips. He always has a destination but he never knows what the journey there is gonna be like. A novel is like an iceberg, only 10% is actually seen and 90% of it's underneath, like the rules of the world creatures, histories, tales and things. He is always writing!!! He said he goes peculiar when he's not writing. He has like an overview and then the book never turns out that way but it helps him know where he's going even though it can be nothing like the book.

They talked about editing, inspiration, the fantasy writing world and how big hits like Potter and Hunger Games changed things and gave older books a second life, but still was a bit annoying to hear these new ones described as original when they've been doing it for years. He's tried twice to get Sabriel into a film, but no one wants to take it on. Shades Children might be a TV series, but again this may never come to pass. He pressured the point that it's not set in stone, that these things may never come to pass and more books may or may not come. He says he keeps it open these days as he's been reminded of times of when he's said never, and then 15 years later does it, or something takes a lot longer then expected, so it was all ambiguous but hopeful :yahoo:

I really enjoyed hearing about his writing process and how I tend to do things he does, gives me hope a little for my own writing.

I then queued up afterwards to get me book signed, boy I was shaking like a leaf! and it was packed as they had another signing going on in the same book tent as well. But I managed to talk to him LIKE A NORMAL PERSON oh my gosh! How did I manage that!?!

So yeah, I have met and spoke to Garth Nix, gained valuable writing tips from one of the best writers ever and got a brand new book signed by he himself!!!! :yahoo:

I'm exhausted.... :swoon:
