So, what to say, I'm uh, late. This was to be my third and probably final entry, and was supposed to had been completed, for the Dragon (April/May) Challenge over at Sprite Stitch. So what happened? I had plenty of time to finish it. Well, I had a mental breakdown of sorts, too much stress, had to step away from not only this project but pretty much everything. Once all that had passed and my mind was in a better state I finally got back to it to finish up the last hours.

This was my cute card, I had already done awesome, as well as different, this though was the closest that I could get myself to competing with all the Pokemon entries I knew I'd see. I don't do cute that often but when searching for dragon choices for this challenge, this I just had to stitch. Just too bad I didn't allow myself those last couple days to complete it before I went into my state of dysphoria.

Anyway, its done now, and turned out absolutely adorable! Oh, and this image is from the dream ending of the easier 'Gold Dragon' mode of the cool vertical scrolling shmup Dragon Spirit on the NES.

This one is adorable. Love the both of their expressions. I'm pretty sure this would be my daughter if she had a little dragon. XD

This single horse drawn pumpkin shaped carriage taken from the Famicom game The Lost Word of Jenny (and totally inspired by Cinderella) sticks to my tradition of stitching from lesser know games, only this one being more little girly like than my usual choices. Its pretty, adorable and so totally me! I like cool, awesome, kick ass stuff, but every once in a while I need cute and pretty thrown into the mix.

A cool looking werewolf head, taken from the NES game Werewolf the Last Warrior. This from a cutscene in the game after defeating each boss, depicted the boss in an agonizing pose, and below that in another window, the werewolf's upper body in a cool attack position. While I always thought this an awesome character, a werewolf with steel blades in place of clawed hands, the one thing I never cared for though was the mostly hairless muscled body, werewolf head slapped atop that like a mask or sorts, reminding me of a wrestler out of Pro Wrestling (also an NES game) instead of something real and serious. Guess, being the time they were going for the whole comic book look. I just like his head, so stitched only that part of him, let your imagination fill in the rest.

This project was orginally going to be both Ryu Hayabusa and Irene Lew super deformed as they appear in the sound test screen of Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos. What changed is that I suddenly decided that I would participate in the 'Favorite Class' Sprite Stitch challenge after all. While 'Ninja' is not my favorite job class typically when playing games such as RPGs, that usually goes to knights or warriors, whomever can wield the strongest weapons and best armor, ninja are still cool and are among my favorites when it comes to platformers, Ninja Gaiden for example and since this is a somewhat common class in RPGs, why not, I'm going to stitch me one for 'ninja class'.

So, taking SD Ryu Hayabusa, throwing Irene aside for now, slapped him into a black space, now what? I wanted to label him somehow, like what you might see in a status screen with his image, so looked through some game title screens for what I had in idea of doing. Ah, found something that may work, part of the title from Ninja Cop Saizou, using the kanji "ninja" from this. Okay, this looks fine. How 'bout a translation under that. Took the "Ninja" out of the famicom game Ninja Ryukenden, okay better. What now? Ryu looks startled, I want something kinda comical, a reason for this reaction. I was thinking maybe somebody threw a shuriken at him and his reflexes weren't good enough to avoid it. Or he threw one of his windmill throwing stars and missed catching it when it came back to him, ouch! Found one on the title screen of the NES game Ninja Crusaders, that should work.

Ryu needs to go back to ninja school.

I love it! Your compositions are always fab.
I do agree with you - Ryu needs to go back to ninja school. Too much showing off with his fire wheel thingy and not enough ninj-ing.

Some time ago I had wanted to stitch a candle, but couldn't find anything worthy, most were too small and nothing detailed enough until I looked into a Famicom game title Magic Candle. Well now, with a title with candle in it this better have something worthy of its name. I watched the intro, a text story with a candle flickering in the blackness, mounted in a wall sconce with two gargoyle statues to each side of it. Ah, this looks perfect!
