I wanna stitch the map, even got a piece of linnen lying around that shoud work (if i stitch over 1 instead od 2)
But i'm having a hard time deciding which pattern to use, te originals, or funky's
Who's doing which, and is there a big difference in colors? I can't easily tell.

I love the star road map! It's just adorable.

So glad to see this project is still going :)

I would say either one is fine to use if you're just going to do one map; if you're going to do more than one, I'd suggest using mine because I made the colors consistent throughout the different maps. Have fun! This is a long project, but the reward will be so sweet :)

Decided the linen isnt going to work. Its too old and its uneven, so i wanted to go on evenweave. But the stores that i see only have pieces (28, 32, 36ct) of 50x45 cm (19,6x17,7inch) and then it only works on 36ct (stitch over one) or it wont fit. Thats very tiny stitching and i wonder if it will actually look good.
I wanted to stich it on something tinyer than the 18ct i'm used too, otherwise the end piece will be very big and i actually wanna hang it someplace nice and not take over the room.
Is there anyone that ever stitched someting on 36ct evenweave, (over one) and did it look good?
I wonder if i shoud keep looking for stores or not.

The smallest I've gone is 32, but they came out good:

I used just one strand of floss, and had to be careful not to tug too hard on the thread.

hi guys

i'm new here and am in need of some advice. i had started this pattern a year ago but i didn't finish much. i started it again recently and then realized that the fabric i have isn't big enough.. :cray: do you guys think it's a lost cause and i should just buy new fabric or should i try adding fabric somehow to the edges? i hate the idea of adding fabric in order to finish this because i could end up with a weird crease and it just seems...bootleg. haha

it was hard enough for me to even find the size that i'm using now; where do you guys buy your fabric? if i want to do this in 18 ct., what size fabric should i be looking to purchase while taking framing into consideration? i'd estimate from my current size but i don't remember what size it is and don't have a ruler to measure it. :( i'd also feel safer using someone else's cloth size who's currently working on it and not having any sizing issues. :P i don't have any finished cross stitching projects under my belt so i'm a little unsure about these things. any advice is appreciated. thanks in advance.

sorry to hear about that! is it too small in both directions or just in one? if you decide you want to join fabric i can explain how i plan to do it for my large project. another more artsy option would be to maybe stitch it in 4 separate pieces and then frame and hand them together. I saw a display in the mall with canvas painting like that and thought it was really sharp looking.

back to your question - on 18 ct it would be about 28.5 inches square, so i would recommend at least 36" x 36" or larger so that you dont have to worry about getting to close to the edge. I persoanlly order all of my material from 123stitch.com - not sure about your location, but they ship to canada at a reasonable cost and speed! Best of luck!

it's too short on 2 sides. i think i'm going to head over to joann's to try and buy some cloth because i read somewhere on this forum that they sell by the yard so i'm hopeful. i already stitched the whole bottom portion so i wouldn't be able to do the 4 separate pieces without starting over. :( it sounds nice though!

i'll definitely look into that site if joann's doesn't have what i need and thanks for the size recommendation; makes things a less stressful :D wish me luckkk! thanks for all your advice!
