Ahh, this is breathtaking. Portal is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, and I've been wanting to learn bookbinding for a few years now, too, but only recently getting so far as coptic stitching. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you use Hollander's, because they are located just a few miles away from me. Did you just print the images that you used on the cover and on the inside of the book with a regular printer? It looks so professionally done.
Your craftsmanship is impeccable. Hats off to you, and I am so excited to see more of your work in the future.

Re: Portal and Banksy Book
Thank you all for compliments and interest in my books.
For the images I go to Kinkos and print everything there. the cover images are on white printer paper, the pages are on ivory, and the endleaves are on card stock. And I did use coptic stitch to sew the text block together. I'm still learning how to use my sewing frame, and while I have sew several text blocks on it I haven't turned many of them into books yet.
You live close to Hollanders!!!! I'm so jealous, their shipping is expensive so I try not get anything until I I need a large order because of it. San Francisco has good resources to but they are scattered throughout the city and none of them have online stores. Plus I'm 2 hours away if traffic is good so I cant just go there every time I need something.shrinkingviolet wrote:I was pleasantly surprised to see that you use Hollander's, because they are located just a few miles away from me.
