It will probably take me a couple days to ship it because I'm lazy and the biggest procrastinator ever but it's done!! :yahoo:

The main body of the gift is finished, I found a way around my yarn issue! Now I'm having an absolute mole of a time cutting out felt shapes! Anyone know how to keep the edges of felt from fraying or any other tips for working with sheets of felt? Wow, I feel like such a tool asking for help with felt shapes...

Ally- Don't be so hard on yourself. I'll share what I know. As long as it's cut with super sharp dress makers shears (or regular but real sharp scissors) or a rotary blade I've never had any fraying issues. I'm not sure if you can use a thin layer of fray check along edge or possibly use a thin ribbon along edge like binding on a quilt.

I've heard (though I haven't tried it myself) that if you iron some iron-on interfacing to the rear side of the felt, you can get a clean cut much more easily and reduce fraying. Of course, this will only work if your felt shapes will be appliqued to something...
Current projects: 'Heroes' sketch, experiments with surface embroidery.

I'm in exactly the same situation :P I had some rough ideas but finally figured out the details and made a pattern. I'm getting started on it right now. Together with my two small items it should make a nice set :) I should be able to finish within the deadline no problem.

Ally, I've used cut-out felt for detailing on amigurumi and plushes (for the eyes, mouth, etc.) and never had any problem with fraying. I simply cut it and glue it on. Like was said earlier just make sure you use some nice and sharp scissors.

So I've been working on the last piece of my swapee's gift and I think I've changed my mind on colors about 5 or 6 times now. Soon I will be a master of pulling out stitches!

I would like to squeal about the awesome gifts I received from user SofaraStarfyre! I actually got the package late last week, but my pic-snapping device had full storage and I haven't had a chance to work with it until today.

Two of my fandoms are Harry Potter and Homestuck, and she just nailed them!

I can't tell you how many times I've oggled the wands in my local small bookstore, and now I have a handcrafted beauty of my own, complete with teal gem at the base and a handmade box with a plush pillow.

And the jewelry! Oh em gee, your stitching is so neat. o_o How the heck do you manage to make the backs so tidy? They're just fantastic. I've already worn them to work one day this week.

Thank you so much for the gifts! I'm sorry for the delay in posting my thanks. <3 I need to keep plugging away at mine, since we're getting down to the wire.
