Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
Loving the updates from everybody else! Been slow going for me since I had spine surgery a little under 2 weeks ago. Makes it hard to sit up for long periods of time but here is my update anyways.
Sorry if the picture won't get bigger. Took it on my phone then emailed it to myself and uploaded.

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
everyone's progress is looking so awesome! keep up the great work guys!
i've taken a break from the pokemon to work on the mario mini maps, a couple of christmas gifts (never too early to start) and getting used to my new job's schedule. this pattern is DEFINATELY an exercise in endurance! picked it back up a week ago and have gotten some more ghostly silhouettes on the cloth.
Edit: instead of making a 3rd post in a row, im going to go ahead and put my current wip picture on this one. pretty much have gone cross eyed at this point since working on it from 830 am until a few moments ago. i've added the colors of 12 new pokemon and filled in the colors of others. i've pretty much come to the conclusion that when I stitch my copy of this pattern (this one going to my little sis in tennesee) i'm doing it on 22 count aida. less thread, less knots, and the stitch area will be smaller which will hopefully help prevent burnout a little more.

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
this may be a little late, but an idea for toning down the background color would be (if you are using two strands of floss per stitch) would be to do one strand of pink and one strand of either purple or white on the needle together, that way it optically mixes better than doing a half stitch. the half stitch will make a nice "sketch" look, but if you are going for more of a finished look i would give the former a try.clairemac_2013 wrote:Wow, thanks for all those updates! It's really cool to be able to get an idea what the project will look like at different stages. They all look awesome!
Here's my progress as of a couple of days ago. I've got Rhyhorn mostly done now and most of Weezing, but other than that it's still about the same.
Also, I'm experimenting with using a different color as the background. I wanted it to be a pinky purple, as pastel as possible, so right now I'm using 3609. , although I'm not really sure how I like how it meshes with the other colors used for the pokemon (I think it's a bit to bright). My husband suggested that I only make one stitch instead of crossing back over like normal cross stitch so that the result would be a mixture of the pink and the white background, muting the forcefulness of the pink. So I'll let you know how that goes.

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
Been awhile since I've posted an update but I'm making progress! Sometimes it feels like it's not much but when I look at the whole thing I'm shocked at what I've done!
Just finished page 5. Enjoy
Also, apologies if bad quality. Was at school waiting for class to start so photo taken by my phone.

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
looking awesome guys! keep it up!
as for mine. . .well. . .we sat down, had a long talk, and i told it that it just wasnt working. so i'm going to be starting mine over. too many little mistakes started to pile up. it was my first big project and my first stitch project in several years, so i'm taking what i had done with that pattern so far and have chalked it up to practice.
i've found after doing alot of work on the mario maps patterns i prefer to work on 22 count with just one strand. so i picked up some new fabric at work today and am about to mark it out. another change this go around is as much as i like doing to large blocks of colors so i can cover more of the canvas quickly, i am going to lay down the black first and go back and fill in one pokemon at a time so i can have 151 mini victories rather than a whole expanse of shadowy figures.
yay learning experiences!

Re: Epic Pokemon pattern WIP!!
I did the black outline thing for my second gen epic pokemon, and it is so far working really well. Still made a few small mistakes, and it is so annoying when you are filling in the colour to discover a black square you missed... One other piece of advice I would give is start at the bottom, at least when you are doing the filling in. This is because of the way the pokemon overlap, It is easier to see intuitively where the colour should fill to, and I find I have to check my pattern less and am less likely to make mistakes.Truut wrote: another change this go around is as much as i like doing to large blocks of colors so i can cover more of the canvas quickly, i am going to lay down the black first and go back and fill in one pokemon at a time so i can have 151 mini victories rather than a whole expanse of shadowy figures.

Good luck!
