Thank you!

Well, taking a break from the StarTropics stitching. Actually just have not been in much mood to stitch at all, nor do much of anything else either, at least for a time. But, I've gotten back to it again, cut myself six slightly over 5"x7" sheets of black aida, going to do smaller projects that I've been wanting to do for a while now. First up, an awesomely detailed skull from part of the intro of Sword Master. If I keep at it I'll have another done every few days until I run out of material.

I liked the skeleton's skull so much that I just had to cross-stitch it! So far of all the skulls I've seen in NES games I like the details of this one most, just so realistic looking!

It looks so detailed, yet so simple at the same time. Fab work as always :)

Ugh, I've been like that all week myself. I think it's mostly work, that has me in a slump. Plus, it's been so nice outside I've spent all my time out there, reading.. ^^'

On my quest to always try to find something different to cross-stitch, one thing that came to mind was to find beautiful treasures to stitch, that's when I came upon this pretty crystal from Final Fantasy III for the Famicom.

Ooh, I love this. I'm really into statues lately (as I hope to show in my thread soon) so it's nice to see someone else making them too :)

Statues, even though many times of seemingly bland, or dull colors, for the most part consisting mostly of grays, can be quite interesting pieces. I had me in mind to expand out to doing some on later consoles such as the SNES and Playstation as well, because there are some really beautiful statues that could be stitched, but when starting one I got aggravated, it was too complex, couldn't barely tell some gray from another and I don't do well with the symbols thing, maybe I'll try again at a later point in time, but for now sticking with just the NES.

Got me two new completed stitchings, a rose and a butterfly.

At some point I wanted to stitch a flower, but what kind and from what game? After I had finished my Little Mermaid project last year I had also wanted to do some other Disney animated film favorites of mine, but being the early time of the NES, many of those weren't made for this console, at least not over here in the US. But, thanks to emulator I was able to have a go at another great animated movie, though not quite so good game, Beauty and the Beast. Not going to get into details on reviewing the game, just disappointed as it could have been better if in the right hands. Anyway, what I had in mind was a stained glass rose, but, well, I wasn't too pleased with how the artist done it in the game, too bad. But, there is another. Yep, the rose under glass. Had originally thought to do the complete rose but it was lacking something...character. It was too perfect and kinda devoid of anything else. I waited for it to lose a few pedals...ah, much better!

Something caught my attention about this really bizarre butterfly from the title screen of Chou-hen for the Famicom. Not just that it substitutes the kanji radical for insect as part of the full kanji for butterfly, but more so that it just looked so...artistic. Its very colorful and strange with its long tail and claw-like antennae, as well as blocks of incorrect colors due to color palette limitation. While I did think to correct the colors for the small piece of wing and base of its tail with those it should be, as I neared the end of this stitch project (holding off on those sections until very last), pondering it as I had the whole time stitching it, even though it would have looked nice and clean, if I had done so I would have lost part of the reason I wanted to stitch it in the first place. Accuracy is very important to me, and there is logical reason behind why, and that's the charm.

The beauty & the beast wilting rose is gorgeous. I love it stitched on black since it really emphasizes the sorrow that the rose represents. Since Disney is marketed to children we often see "happy" versions of their iconic symbols which is really a disservice to their amazing stories.

This is one that I had on my to do list since a couple years ago. Started this project with the intent to have it finished by September of Friday the 13th. Originally was going to time it to finish it on that day, but having started a bit early, got it done 5 days early. Also, since it qualifies for the current Sprite Stitch challenge, Inanimate Objects, this'll be my first of possibly a couple more that will follow soon.
