All right!
new update!
I got Squirtle done, but I have tips for anyone attempting this...
1. Start on the left side since it's probably easier to stitch from left to right rather than vicea versa. Trust me on this, because eventhough you might want to start with Blastoise since all of him is shown, the stitching is easier the other direction, which may help you not mess up if it's easier.
2. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE DOING! This may seem obvious, but it really comes in handy when you are first starting out, plus it is really annoying to finish a color, start another, only to realize that you missed ONE STITCH of the previous color, or to realize that you put a stitch in the wrong place, have to take it and a couple others out and redo them.
3. Do not make the mistake of thinking the smaller characters are easier just because they are small, especially on Squirtle, because he may be the smallest I've done so far, but he has like 20 colors, and it takes FOREVER to keep on switching colors.
I think that is enough ranting... err, tips, so here's the update:
Thanks for the support guys!

Excellent tips
I started from the top left corner, I haven't done as much as you (baby's driving me mad lol) and what I have done is mostly black. I'm slowly getting there though

Sweet, I didn't know anyone else was doing this! Do you have any pictures?
Also, my work will probably slow down ALOT when school starts again, so I'm trying to get as much done as I can now.
Thanks

Got a thread going in Stitching Craft Projects with the first WIP pic. I should be putting another one up in a couple of days

Don't rush to finish it, I'm not - when I rush I only have to unpick it and re do

All right, I gots a plan. I will post pictures of the pokemon project here when I finish a new character, while I will post WIP pics while between characters over in BlackMageheart's topic.
Charizard was fun, but I realized that I missed a couple of stitches a couple of times, and then, instead of just cutting the string short, I just kept stitching that color all around, and that's how I got so much of Charmeleon and Charmander done, plus if you look, I did a little bit of Sandslash, which is on the THIRD ROW!! I didn't realize how off track I was until the string ran out, I was prepared to get all the way to Pikachu!
Anyways, here it is:
Enjoy

Wow, your Pokemon epic pattern is really coming along.
It makes me so anxious.
