Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom - Ryu Hayabusa
PATTERN:
140w x 112h pixels = 10"w x 8"h
Spoiler
note: Ninja Gaiden is among my favorite games on the NES, being said, I had to do something from this trilogy of games. Problem though, way too many awesome scenes to cross-stitch. Another, most of those that I really want to do badly are too large for me to do at this time (need bigger sheet of black aida for those really grand images). So, lets keep it simple, very basic for now, this pic of Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden 3 would do nicely.
I sure did pick a time to work on this one though, most of my stitching is being done in the car, and for everything I attempt to work on during daylight hours there's severe glare to deal with on my laptop screen, so I have an easier time working on them at night with car parked underneath a parking lot lamp at McDonalds. But for this one, with all that dark blue on black aida, under dim lighting, progress may have been a little slower than it should have been, but it wasn't too bad, just a bit more eye-strain than usual. Ryu turned out great.

note: Ever since seeing this ending image I kept it in mind that this one had to be made into a cross-stitch at some point, and well now, here it is! Despite not having an iron to get those creases out, this piece turned out beautifully.

note: Came up with this piece for the Minimalism Challenge at Sprite Stitch. I was supposed to use #917 (medium plum) but there was a mix up with labels and I got the wrong color stitched in, and well, being so near finishing that color had to stick with it. Its okay, but a little darker than I wanted it to be. Still, turned out nicely. Also, because doing this on black aida, the triangle pendant even though the sprite of it is actually black also, but needing to be able to see this accessory I decided to alter the color to very light peacock blue, same color used for side seam of her outfit. This was a very different kind of project than I'm used to, but very much enjoyed it. Can't wait to stitch my next one for the minimalism challenge.

note: This is my second entry for the Sprite Stitch Minimalism Challenge. With this one I focused only on Christine's (the elf heroine of this game) hair. Why I picked this particular character's locks to do is because how it frame her face and body, that even if she herself were completely shadowed in darkness you could still tell what certain details are supposed to be such as her long pointed ears and that she is wearing a bandana or such, and I like the way her hair cascades around her shoulders.

Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos - Doll Face
PATTERN:
98h x 70w pixels = 5"w x 7"h
Spoiler
note: I was struggling to figure out what I wanted to do next for my third minimalism piece, but I kept looking towards doing something from the Ninja Gaiden games. One in particular was the cutscene after Ryu defeats Baron Spider, I liked the angle and what caught my attention for use of this one for the contest was the evil being's face (perhaps a mask covering his face), very doll-like, made me think to remove all other parts of the picture, once done, it looked like the broken remains of a porcelain doll's face. Perfect!

Well, so much as I'd like to do another one my time is short, at least in the few upcoming days ahead. Big changes happening, going to be moving. Should be an awesome change for my mom and I and Snickers (our dog).

I really give you props for working with so much Black Aida! For me, all that would be a nightmare!

I love black aida fabric! I've learned how important fabric color can be, and I'm amazed at how well it works for these projects! Makes them stand out superbly.
