I am hoping to sign up for this, I just wanted to check that this would be okay, since it is an old game. It looks just a little off but I think that is due to the pixilations.

Re: Charity Quilt(s) 2013
Quarter stitches and half stitches are ok as long as the entire square is filled (make sure 2 halfs or 4 quater stitches in the square), but please NO backstitching or french knots at all. The backstitching won't be as secure and could catch and pull when the quilt is being used.stitchandpaddle wrote:The backstitching I put in is one section of 1st by 2st to make a mouth, and french knots for eyes. If I could do quarter stitches for this instead it would still be okay, otherwise the character will look a little weird (but hopefully still recognizable). The french knots could easily enough be changed to quarter and/or backstitching overtop, or I can just do away with the details.
Remember, we are not making a picture to hang, we are making a quilt that may be used.

Yeah...the DMC is 1/2 inch one direction, spot on the other and the Charles Craft is 3/4 inch one direction and 1/2 inch the other. I could have just gotten some that is off, but I know they aren't the best brands out there.blackmageheart wrote:I have used both, although I don't have any with me right now.LinkIsMyHomeboy wrote:Is there a particular brand of aida cloth that people are finding in the proper dimensions? I have some excess 16 ct from various projects that I was checking and I have some Charles Craft and some DMC and they're both off. If you have used either of those, please let me know...I may have gotten some funny batches.
Have you measured up? How off are they?

Out of curiosity, where do people get/find the game screenshots they use for this? I don't know if I'll have time to do one but it'd be nice to know for if I do have time
good luck to everyone making theirs, I hope they turn out well

I am excited to take part in the creation of an awesome quilt for a great charity!
Here's the image I am going to do from one of my NES favorites, Joust. I know it's a lot of black, but that's what most of the screen looked like when playing lol.

I did an image search for screenshots of the game and just used paint to clean it up and combine a few different elements to make them fit within the 96x96 square.peas_and_love wrote:Out of curiosity, where do people get/find the game screenshots they use for this? Would this work for you, arkani? The red lines around the outside would not be part of the pattern.arkani wrote:So I was playing a few old ROM's i've got, and I came across this scene from TLK: Simba's Mighty Adventure.
Resizing it makes it look awful, KG chart crashes, and cropping takes out pretty much everything. help?

I would trade out 718 for 553. Not sure about 3836, I don't have that one to check it. The rest looks fine, though.arkani wrote:I had a play around with the pic I had a few pages back - is this better? I'm playing with charting it out on KG-chart at the moment.
Edit: Here's the file, if someone can check the colours for me?

I haven't got either colour on hand, so i'll take your word for it. I'm going to the craft store tomorrow, to get supplies for a gift i'll be stitching soon, so I think i'll take in a pic of the scene, and match against the other colours for the 3836 and see how it looks.

Re: Charity Quilt(s) 2013
I am going to participate this year! I've already got my pattern started and fighting with colours that I don't agree with. Hoping to do 2, but I'll only sign up for one for now.
Question: Are online/mobile games allowed? I was contemplating doing Robot Unicorn Attack.
