Dragon Warrior/Quest 4 - Necrosaro

Post by Fro »

I already edited the picture, so I just need someone to convert to a pattern. The design is actually 152px wide and 102px tall.

I suppose the black pixels inside the body should be stitched...and maybe even a single-pixel black border around the body as well. If you want me to change the background to a different color and then outline his body the way I think it should be, I can do that before the pattern is made. I'm using MS paint though and can't get a transparent background, which is probably the way to go...as all that black won't be stitched.

My original plan was to have all 7 or 8 of his forms side by side in one long pattern. But when I counted the pixels, the stitching would've been roughly 8.5" tall and a tad over 5 feet wide! So I figure I'll do each form as a separate item with some captions underneath (like when he loses an arm or his head, etc) because it appears that they will fit in 8.5x11 frames. When I need another pattern made, I'll post it in this thread.

Thanks!

I've took out the black background like you asked, but left a border for the sprite.

Also, if you need an alternative to MS Paint, try Paint.net. It's like a cross between MS Paint and Photoshop and it's free. You need to download Microsoft .NET Framework as well, but it's a pretty good program.

I appreciate the pattern, but I seriously couldn't believe it came up with 23 colors. I count 5, including black and white...his main body consists of 2 shades of brown and then there's his blue eyes. I even checked the RGB values of random spots on his body and they are all the same. It looks perfectly pixelated zoomed in while in paint or even quicktime pictureviewer. When viewed in windows picture and fax viewer and zoomed in, it definitely distorts the colors to try to blend them. I'll assume photobucket kinda did the same thing.

I can probably use your pattern and substitute my 2 brown colors, but I wonder if my emailing you the file will produce better results. Care to try? Is there an RGB to DMC color conversion chart?

RGB numbers I found:
Black - R0 G0 B0
White - R255 G255 B255
Blue eyes - R64 G96 B248 (your pattern didn't seem to even include the blue)
dark brown body - R192 G112 B0 (= DMC 782?)
light brown body - R255 G160 B0 (= DMC 742 or 3852?)

EDIT: Here's a pic zoomed in using that quicktime picture viewer.

I figured out what the problem was. It wasn't Photobucket, it was because you uploaded your picture as a jpeg. Because of the way a jpeg is compressed, it screws up the colours. In the future, you need to use either a .png or .gif file, that way no colour is lost. I normally use .png as you get small file sizes as well. I've updated the pattern in my first post, so you can get it there. Hope you like it!

TY for the top Servo, I didn't know that. I keep that in mind when I'm doing my patterns in future. :D

Well, the original file was a 24-bit .bmp file...It got converted to a stupid .jpg when uploaded. I hate Photobucket sometimes. They state: "Images - gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp. Photobucket converts bmp files, which are not appropriate for the Internet, to jpg files, which are." I'll use .png next time.

But yeah, that looks MUCH better. I appreciate all the help!

You don't even need to use Photobucket, you can upload attachments to the forum. Just scroll down to the bottom when you are writing a post and there should be a tab that says Upload Attachment.
