Awesome, I'm so glad we did this! There's no way we could have pulled in $2k on our own.
I guess it makes sense to start now, but it seems like it might be a little early since so, so many people pulled out last year. Starting a little later might give people more time to figure out if they're actually going to have time to contribute. I know I didn't even start my square until mid August.

If we do one for next year, we are actually getting started a lot later. The squares need to be to me by September 1st so I have time to quilt it and get it out by October 1st.
So I guess we should get started for next year? If there isn't anyone that wants to organize and take the reigns I can do it since I am getting the final squares and quilting anyways.
Will we do a hodge-podge of games this year, or go with a game themed, or perhaps another theme? For example, women of games, favorite game villain, favorite game main character?
To make it easier for the set up, I say we stick with the same measurements/rules we had for the squares last year.
Can't wait to hear back... I want to go ahead and make my square and get to stitching!!!!

I'd love to participate in the 2012 quilt but am terrible at making patterns. I actually had what I hope is a cool idea for a patch -- the various felines across the current pokémon generations?
We tried to do different themed quilts last year jadely, but so many people pulled out that we only had enough squares for one quilt.
It is definitely important that we start early because of the people that pulled out. Blackmageheart managed to make 5 squares for this quilt. If it wasn't for her spending the year making that many squares, we would not have had enough and I would have been scrounging for more embroidery squares.
So I think we should just say everyone make whatever square you want, but I think we have to stick with a screenshot. If we get a lot of squares I can look at what we have and if we have enough for more then one quilt, I can organize them into themes. I like the idea of what we tried last year of "theme" quilts, but then what happens if people pull out (remember it wasn't just one or two, 10 people pulled out) and we don't have enough squares? As for the pattern, that isn't a problem. If you pick a scene and post the picture, there are plenty of people here that could turn it into a pattern for you.

I can't believe that many people didn't make their squares! Way to go BHM for filling in.
I'll start on my squares ASAP, so count me in!!

Were the measurements/rules 96 x 96 stitches, 16 count aida and leaving about 5 inches around the sides?
16 count aida has been a bit of a rarity for me (i think i've seen it once, and it wasn't even a roll of aida), so I might need to start looking now
How about the idea of doing "modern" games in next years quilt? I think the child's play auctions from the last few years always seem to get more money for non-retro games.
Most of us stick to retro games too, it would be good to do something different...
I wish I could help too...
I've got a few questions if you don't mind
Are the rules already defined ? do you need more stitchers ?
what is the theme ?
do we have to send the pattern before we finish the square ? when ?
can we post WIP on the forums ?
what size must the squares be ? what about the aida count ?
what is the deadline ?
anyway it's a wonderful project, congratulations to all of you for your great work on the first quilt !!

I think you're a little ahead of use there! We haven't set any "rules" yet. Although we would love more stitchers! Most people posted their pattern before starting, it was on size 16 count last time, and of course you can post WIPs!
