I'm sad that I haven't had much spare time lately to see what you guys are up to. I would love to take part in a mini swap. :nod
Current Project(s): How much time do you have? LOL

OK, after re-reading this thread, seems to me that the most popular idea for the next challenge is back to school / life lessons - so I think we shall do that for August! I'll get that set up soon :)

As for the mini-swap, I've been thinking...last year's was a one month thing in September. I'm wondering if we should have a repeat of that and keep it to September, or stretch it out until October. Bearing in mind that the big swap was three month (and we most likely will be doing that again soon), maybe a two month swap isn't so mini. Also, October has Halloween so perhaps a series of mini challenges would be more appropriate? Like, August - Back to School, September - Mini Swap, October - Insert Spooky Challenge Here?

I think it really depends on when you're planning to do the big swap? It was the march before the mini swap last year, which I think was a bit too close. So how about every six months we do a swap, big one, then mini, the big, and so on. I think increasing the mini swap to go over october is a good idea, as people do back to school, uni, etc in september, so it would give them a bit more time to get their items done...
I also remember last october people weren't that keen on doing halloween again. Although I like the idea of relating challenges to the month, I think we need to get away from that slightly to get more spontaneity, so I don't think people will mind that much if we have it over two months...

Ahh yes, I'd forgotten about that >_< And of course you're right about the spontaneity thing.

The big swap was March, April and May and the mini-swap was just September - I know what you mean about it being a little too close. I finished my big swap gifts at the end of May, worked on the make-up gifts for those who didn't get any across June and then it was only two months to another swap (which took me the whole month due to a lot of server/computer problems)

OK, how about doing the big swap Feb-April and the mini swap Sept-Oct? Making it a regular thing too, like those times (or whatever time we all decide on) every year? Of course I will have to check with johloh to make sure that's ok
Another thing I wanted to say is that when I said the mini swap isn't so mini I forgot that it's mini because it's about mini items and the time scale probably shouldn't come into it there. So two months should be good, like you say it gives people plenty of time to get them done!

Well.. August challenge is up so I've moved this topic off the announcements. Thanks to everyone for their input! :clapping:

If anyone still has thoughts or ideas about the upcoming swap(s) feel free to post away in here - I've already started preparing things for it and any suggestions etc are most welcome!

A challenge theme that I think would be fun, would be the items that make games even funner! :yahoo: ...potions, power-ups, and character/game upgrades.
I think that everyone has their favorite objects to get in games. Examples would be like the firaball for Mario, the potions for final fantasy, coins/bananas equaling extra lives in games,
the hypercube in Bejeweled, the different types of plasma upgrades in Bioshock, etc....
I found an internet list that is exactly like what I was thinking.
I think it would be really cool to see what different things people could come up with
Browse through to get some ideas, and tell me what you think!
(P.S. I hope its okay to include the website??)
