Calvin & Hobbes

Post by Kareesh »

One of my friends is going to have a baby and the baby's name is going to be Calvin, so I thought I would do a Calvin & Hobbes baby record for them. I found the image I want and I tried making a pattern, but it came out waaaaay too big, and I couldn't figure out how to make it smaller.

Size: Erm....I would like for it to fit in a 5x7" frame, but I'm willing to a larger frame, as long as it's a common frame size (reaaaaly don't wanna pay for a custom frame to be made)

Colors: I don't really care if there are a lot of colors, as I know the original picture has a lot of shading, probably due to the style of colouring the original artist uses.

File type: Doesn't matter. I would prefer .sth but I can do PDF as well.

Oh, and on the picture there's some blank space on the right hand side of the picture, that's where the name and birthdate will go, so I will need some room on that side. :)

This should fit in an 8"x10" frame. I couldn't get it any smaller without losing every bit of detail, but I hope this works. You may have to add a bit to the side that you're putting the name though.

Is this alright?

Looks good! Thanks! I might map them both out and see which one I like better size-wise. Thanks so much! *huggles*

If you don't want to buy another frame, try stitching it on a higher count aida :D

Can only get 18 ct in my local shop, in off white. Which is sad as I am in the capital city of Australia. Time to start buying online I think

You may be able to get it smaller if you backstitch the facial details and certain area like Calvin's hand, but I'm not very good at using KG-chart to put backstitch in.

Are you including the white area? If you want just the picture, it's quite a bit smaller. If so I can make a couple of patterns that are just the picture in a couple different sizes for you.

The pattern itsself is too large. I'll have a go at shrinking it, otherwise I'll just put it on hold till i aquire some larger frames. I am thinking of looking into those multiphoto frames, and doing a theme through one
