Priorities
I just had to spend a few days in the hospital for pneumonia and while me and my sister was waiting for the ambulance she was trying to get some stuff I wanted together for me while I was sitting on a chair panting for air
In the middle of her running around getting clothes, meds and thoothbrush I ask her to get my pokemon cross-stitch for me. She just stared at me
and I realized that as bad as I felt I'd probably wouldn't be up to much stitching ands maybe there was somethings I might need more. I did have some projects already in my backpack though and one of them gamerelated

Now that is dedication! In Dutch we would call you a cross stitcher 'in hart en nieren' (in heart and kidneys, sounds strange in English..)
I hope you're feeling better.

OMG
That really made me laugh Johloh. I love it
It is so true. I've been in a lot of pain during the years and my stitching helped me get through many nights when I couldn't sleep.

I almost always have a stitchproject with me, familydinners, when I serve as a layjudge at court, and everything in between it usually stays in my backpack but on breaks or if a familydinner gets so intense I need to get some calm I take my project. I really wanted to get this Pokemon project done for my sister for Christmas so I was very focused on it but I felt very silly when I realized that I asked my sis to get it for me when she was trying to find my meds and stuff before the ambulance.
I'm recovering well. Unforturnately I fainted twice before I could get to the phone and text my sister to come home and help me to hospital so I got a really big hematoma on my right hip. It hurts but it will go away in a month or so. I'm just really freaked out about fainting

Hey, a girl's got to have her priorities. Doing something that you love is very healing. You have to occupy your time somehow while sitting in that hospital bed! I hope you heal soon and make some progress on your projects.

I agree! When I was pregnant I had to go into hospital and ended up staying overnight - I took my PSP and a small stitching I was working on. I was lonely and a little nervous - I couldn't sleep much so I did some stitching and it definitely helped me to relaxcandace wrote:Hey, a girl's got to have her priorities. Huh, I didn't even think of grabbing my cross stitch last time I had to go to the hospital. Must do so next time! Let's just hope it's not needed, and get well soon!

Re: Priorities
This makes me feel SO much better!! I had a bunch of gall stones blocking my bile ducts to the point where my liver enzymes were over a thousand. While hubby was helping me do pretty much what your sister did, gather stuff up to take me to the hospital, I grabbed a project bag with the 'Two girls one up' I was working. Everybody thought I was nuts. He was the only one who didn't. <3 I guess it's just a crafter thing!!! They can think we're nuts, but we can glance knowingly at one another and comment on the mundanes just not 'getting it.' Having it and not working on it is much better than wanting it and not having it, amIright? Hope your holidays were lovely and that you're feeling much better!

My husband laughs whenever I lug my current project along with me, even if I don't actually work on it, I think it's a comfort thing.
