A New Forum Deserving of Your Attention

Hey, guys!!
[Note: I am NOT trying to steal members, so PLEASE don't think that]

My friends and I have started up a new forum that has a section for all different kinds of video game related crafts. Bead sprites, stitching, and pixel art are up and running so far. There's so many different forums out there for specific crafts, and we just wanted to make one that was devoted to ALL of the crafts. I can't paint to save my life, but I still LOVE to see the wonderful things others can do with a brush. We're really all about getting to know each other and help each other out.

I would like to invite you all to be a part of it. I'm "in charge" of the stitching section of the forum, and I could certainly use some membership so we can get some cool things going. The basic idea is to start your own thread in the section(s) of your choice and just keep posting in that thread every time you make something new. It's really easy to join, and the interface is simple and easy on the eyes, too.

So please, come register, give us a shot, and spread the word, but do not abandon the wonderful spritestitch community.
This is, more or less, a way to show the artists who create using other mediums what we stitchers can do.

ha. kinda trying to steal members...but, its ok. I just want to see the community thrive, and there is tons more room for other boards and sites...

I'd really like to see some more blogs going that post regularly! but, I know how hard those are to keep going!

I think everyone should be a part of the forum of there genre and a place for everything. We just want to be that place for everything.

I'm hoping, when we grow, to send people your way for their very specific sprite-stitching needs. Cross-promoting does wonders.

Why don't you throw a link to your forum in your sig here? That way, those who are interested can click it and be whisked away. That's what I did with spritestitch at withthewill. There's a small link to it below my dragon eggs in my sig. Anyway, I registered there, but there's something about it that I don't like, though I can't quite seem to put my finger on it. I think it's a mix of the layout, the subforums, and the basis that the current members all seem to know each other already... But I don't know... I may or may not post there, we'll see I guess

Thanks also for registering. If you have any suggestions please let me know because we're still in the making changes stage.
A lot of us do know each other, which is why we're looking for people we don't know as well.
I hope you decide to at least post your work.

Hmm, I think I've pinpointed what rubs me the wrong way there. All of you guys know each other, and while that is fine, there are so many inside jokes and...nicknames, that make new users feel excluded. Furthermore, you guys reply in each other's threads more often than in users' who hadn't been members at your last forum. Lastly, all the mods are members from that last forum. While that's sorta understandable, it still feels a bit weird. That is all

Edit: It's not just the fact that there is a lot of joking. I guess that so much of it seems spammy. I don't know. And I didn't mean in my threads, I meant new users overall. I guess to I don't like making spam posts myself, so I'm not just going to reply 'thanks!' or something in a post, there has to be quality!

And as always, this post came off more negative than I intended it to. I curse my writing style! But really, they are just minor pet peeves I mentioned above, I was just finally able to name them where as before I didn't know quite what it was that was bothering me.

Aww I'm really sorry you feel that way because everyone at the forum really likes you and your work. I think what you're thinking are nicknames might just be peoples' real names... and, just to point it out, my post only has 6 more replies than yours (and I'm willing to bet most of them can be accounted for as my responses to what people have said to me). That's how it seems to go; the more you say, the more you get back. The 3 mods and 1 admin are the people who made the forum together. The plan is for more mods to be added once the membership gets up and things start getting busier. Doc is keeping that open to new people or old people (and we actually have a very surprising number of new people before... it's somewhere close to 10 or 15). What you may think are inside jokes are really nothing more than blatant picking on each other with the understanding that we don't really mean it.
Like I said, I'm really sorry you feel the way you do. I hope you'll stick around because pretty soon you should be feeling like one of those "old forum members." And I hope other people will give us a chance as well. I'm so impressed with everything new I've seen so far.
