I'm doing this poll out of curiosity...I don't know about the readers of the blog, but I think most active forum users are female...atleast thats my impression.
I got blasted by a reader about my regular jokes about wives not wanting gamer junk all over their houses...I think they are funny sometimes, but maybe I'm offending people. who knows? I would think people would figure that it was tongue in cheek, but maybe not. It isn't always very easy to carry your "tone of voice" over in text.
"Dude, how bitter are you about marriage already? How many posts recently involve a crack of some kind about marriage and it being incompatible with geek crafts?
Geez, stop acting like marriage is the death of everything sacred and get some perspective. Some wives like games, some husbands don’t, some wives respect their husbands stuff and some people actually *like* being married and don’t use it as a go-to punch line.
Love, a crafty gamer wife"
I'm really not bitter about marriage, but I do enjoy making fun of it...

Yeah, I agree!
I'm not a wife myself, but I'm always on the lookout for someone who will put up with my gaming/crafting lol!
I think my siblings (who are gamers themselves) are sick of my craft gear and projects being everywhere they turn, so I'm sure that the "not wanting gamer junk all over the house" isn't reserved for wives/husbands/etc However, they do like some of the finished stuff, so it's not all bad
Just wondering Johloh, is this the only complaint you have had or are there more?

I'm a gamer, a woman, a wife, a crafter and super excited about this blog and forum! Ever since I found it you guys have been nothing but nice to me about finding patterns and putting up awesome crafts and suggestions. I've never found anything anyone's said on here to be offensive at all. I think some people just can't take a joke, johloh. I think what you've been doing here is great! Bringing people all over together over they're love of gaming and crafts. Way to be! Keep it up and don't let the nay-sayers get under your skin.

If someone said that to me I'd probably post more of it.......
In my case, I think cross-stitching is helping our marriage a little because now I'm willing to stay awake and watch sporting events. (He does argue that I'm not really watching them, but I'm getting good at looking up quickly enough to not miss scrimmages. Plus, there's instant replays for the good plays.) Whereas before I used to either shush him because I was reading or go hide in the bedroom to read and/or fall asleep. Plus, I've been going outside for moral support to sew while he's doing yardwork, which usually leads to a nice bonfire this time of year.
I don't think he's so happy with these 1-2x a week trips to Michael's or Joann's for supplies. Hopefully, that'll end soon when I finish this pattern I bought because whomever made it didn't post the number of skeins needed and I've already cleared out #792 floss from both places in my hometown.
I'm a wife and expecting mother right now. My husband is a gamer but he complains about me "cluttering" up the walls with my video game art. He doesn't like so much of it. LOL Our choices of games are so opposite of each other. But we did agree to do the baby's room in a Super Mario theme if it's a girl or boy. I will post pics once we start the painting.
