Baby Present Ideas?

Post by Kareesh »

Ok, so one of my best friends from high school is pregnant. I thought about stitching up a cute little onesie with something geeky on it. Well, she found out she's having twin girls, and I'm kind of stuck as to what to make her. She's probably going to have them in July, so I don't have a lot of time to do two huge projects and I wanted to do something personal as opposed to one of those ones you can buy. I wanna do something video game or geek related, but I can't think of anything.

Any suggestions would be nice. She likes Final Fantasy but both she and her husband are into video games as well as tabletop games. Thank you!

If I was stitching a video game related gift for friends having twin girls, I'd probably do Peach and Daisy in Mario and Luigi's outfits. Or - depending on how much I didn't like them - Twinrova. :P

Onesies are definitely the best way to go, since they'll be used the most. I've made several onesies:

I don't know if they're Pokemon people, but I made this Pichu onesie for my little girl:

I made a Mystery Science Theater 3000 onesie for a friend:

I also made her one with BMO from Adventure Time:

I made my son a Bumblebee t-shirt (from the original Transformers):

(That one will probably not work here as they're twin girls, but it may give you ideas.) ;)

So, there's a few random ones that I've made. If you let me know what they're other "geeky" interests are I might be able to help you come up with an idea. Hope this helps! :)

I usually do baby quilts cause I can bang em out in a weekend, but I'm also a huge fan of hand stitched bibs. You know they'll get used and they won't take very much time at all.

Their other geeky interests are mainly tabletop gaming, like D&D. I had also thought of doing name plates for the nursery with the video game alphabet that someone posted on here, but I have a feeling that I won't be able to finish them in time, since there's two of them to do. :-/

Sometimes (my husband would say most of the time) I'm so indecisive....

I know that thing 1 & 2 are common characters for twins (from Dr. Seuss). Hubby says Palom & Porom are cute twins from ffiv (boy & girl thought)?

Edit: Palam & Porom both look like girls & their SNES sprites are sooooooo cute. I would choose the crying or sleeping sprites!

starrley, I would totally wear that Pichu onesie. Possibly over the Bumblebee shirt, so that I'd still have something awesome on when the inevitable wardrobe malfunction occurred. :nod

For D&D: mindflayers, definitely. The whole grabby-sucky thing, plus the mental domination of those around them - that was our lives for two years for each of our kids.

How about onesies with Player One and Player Two stitched on them? You could make them look like an old Nintendo screen with the arrow pointing to whichever player on a black background (letters in white or not stitched at all if you go with white onsies).

As far as a D&D theme you could go with one having a fighter on it and the second one as a rogue (cause she snuck up on them as a twin). Or gnomes/halflings/kobolds/goblins etc.

Thank you for all your ideas. I think I'm going to go with something to do with Baby Daisy and Baby Peach. I found a pattern for a Baby Peach, so I just need one for Peach. I made a request over here.

Thank you, again. :)

I saw onesies that had "Copy" on one and "Paste" on the other - I thought that was cute if I ever had twins....
