Re: DMC or Anchor?
Technically, I mostly use Sullivan's because I'm a cheap-ass and they have a conversion chart from DMC anyway, so it works out.
Though if the shop I usually go to doesn't have a color in stock, the local Michael's usually does and they carry DMC for a few cents more. :Bb I also bought from Goodwill two box sets worth of thread (at least a hundred different skeins if not more) that I'm fairly sure is DMC - at any rate, they use the same numbering system, so. x3 But yeah, DMC yey.

Be careful with some of the "cheap" floss out there, sometimes they bleed when you wash them. Otherwise I'd say just use whatever you want. I use DMC because it's easy to find and it's color coded.

Re: DMC or Anchor?
I've been sttiching for 15 years and I've only ever used DMCfor th e bulk of my work. Although I will say it is good to have both due to the fact that anchor makes some colors that DMC can't match and vice versa. As far as the actual quality of each strand and sheen... DMC all the way.
But those are only the mainstream brands. I also like a lot of other threads as accents.
Here is a good site as a starting point. There are so many different and wonderful brands out there.

That's true! On that note, has anyone ever used Madeira threads? A lady I was talking to some time ago said they made some beautiful stuff, but I've only ever seen pictures of the colours etc. Never used them myself, and I was wondering what they were like. Not that I'd ever give up my DMC, though! ^^gamerwolff wrote:There are so many different and wonderful brands out there.

Re: DMC or Anchor?
Seemed like such a shame to give up on my anchor threads since I had a full set but really struggling to find any good pattern making progs for Anchor, all colours seem way out on whatever i try.
Anyone got an suggestions of what programs i can try (Tried pc stitch and haftix so far).
In the meantime im trying to make a new more accurate thread table for pc stitch but with over 450 threads to work out its gonna take a while.

Re: DMC or Anchor?
I used to live in UK, where i could find DMC threads very easily.
Now i live in Rio de Janeiro, its IMPOSSIBLE to find DMC, they only have Anchor threads. =(
I'm used to DMC, but if i'm doing a stitch which doesn't require many different threads, i use anchor if i'm out of DMC.
BTW, does anyone know if on KGCHART i can change the DMC colour codes to show me anchor ones?

Re: DMC or Anchor?
You can't in the free version of KGChart (LE), it's DMC only; however the Pro version will be including Anchor and Olympus thread in a future version of the program.Miss_C wrote:BTW, does anyone know if on KGCHART i can change the DMC colour codes to show me anchor ones?
