Being as I was a Jolly ole foreigner to dem da parts, I always though that initit was kinda lika comfermation in a way, like dem peeps that say 'Yeah' at da end of der sentancas and like. If youes need un ex-ample look no fathar than that Jamie Oliver bloke wat on the telly saying yeah ever other word, like he dun know what he doing like.innit < Translation - Innit seemed to me, when I was there to be used as a "Isn't that so/correct/you agree with me right?", similar to other parts of England whom place the word 'Yeah' at the end of their sentence, of which the TV celebrity chef Jamie Oliver ( which most of the American people will undoubtedly be surprised to discover is in fact a Male, as it is a Male name in the UK ) does. To which I trust the good sirs and madams agree with me >

Ayyyyeeee Act-u-ally I'm dead surprised we not got a scousser her, there always is a scousser somewhere, but then I guess we do still have all the smilies as they haven't been nicked yet. Know what I mean?

That's if you catch my meaning 'an all.

Jamie's more male here these days; it took a turn toward the feminine in the '80s, is all. Oliver, on the other hand, is stridently masculine with no question about it. :P

hahahaha must seem a strange way of talking!
i just sound like a typical londoner although for a laugh i sometimes go full cockney just to confuse people :D
also i chat at around 10 words a second
Oh no! Not full cockney!! I hate it when my British friends go full cockney on me. I can't understand half of what they say.

Every time I think I'm getting better at understanding it they make it worse. I finally understand Micky Flanagan on Mock the Week though! :nod

I get just as many vacant stares from people that don't understand my American accent as I give to cockney people so I think its fair.

I just assumed that Innit was just a useless word added to sentences by people of lower education levels, teens trying to impress each other and/or older adults desperately trying to hang on to the coolness of their youth and prove they are still a hip cat down with the kids, yo.
Current WIP:
Bleach! Bleach! Bleach! Bleach!!

Too many patterns not enough time!!

Interestingly at times that I started cross-stitching at work during my breaks I had coworkers ask me what I was crocheting, as well as telling me they used to crochet all the time years ago when they were younger, I just smiled and shown them what I was working on and told them what it was that I was cross-stitching.
