In effect: a unappreciated college brainchild gained a massive following and embedded itself in our culture. That's pretty amazing.
Glad to see someone else who appreciates the genius of the Digipen peeps! So many people I know who play Portal don't even realise where it came from...and that's kinda sad. But at least it's out there and people love it!
As to the future of Narbacular Drop/Portal, personally I want to see the return of Princess No-knees!

There is a new mechanic in Portal 2 where surfaces covered in paint give new abilities depending on the colour, for example orange paint gives you a speed boost when walked on. This is similar to a game called Tag: The Power of Paint, which was also developed by a group of Digipen students. Valve have confirmed that they have been hired by them, but no-one knows if their work has been used by the company.

know a beta tester for Portal 2, although he didn't tell any secrets.
Well of course it is! So, did you finish the game already? I don't remember how long my first play through took... I do still play the entire thing in a several hour sitting every once in a while, just to have the nostalgia of GlaDos rush back to me. In fact, that's what I did this last weekend.

Barely! My parents limit me to a 1h. Time limit a day for all my videogames. Split that between blogging, World of Goo, iPod, then portal, means that the game will last me a long time. XD
