You have to have very thin lips to play the french horn really well. That mouthpiece is so TINY. That's why I liked the upper lower brass. Great training for make-out lips. ^_^

I saw a pic once, years ago, that had a french horn player's lips coming out of the bell - as if he'd had to squeeze them all the way through. I have a lot of respect for French Hornists though - to have to learn not only lip control but the hand waffling that they have to do in the bell just to keep it in tune, plus all the fingering AND adjustments on all the tubing to help keep each bit in tune - it's enough to make any competent musician go all eye-swirly.

Ooh yeah, I knew it wouldn't be an easy thing...but the sound is just so amazing! There's just something about it that I love!
