Over in Europe we have airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet who are basically aerobuses - you pay a small amount (usually about £50) and they take you somewhere, no frills - no drinks, no food, heck, they'd charge you for oxygen if they could. (I believe Ryanair charge for using the toilet...)
I wondered if there's a similar system on domestic US flights? And if so, is there a cheap one or one anyone can recommend?

Re: Budget US Flights?
There is nothing as cheap as Ryanair. Southwest calls itself low cost, but even its prices are never comparable to Ryanair, and last time I flew I had to make 3 stops to get to where I was going- and I wasn't even going that far. Had to stop twice just to cross Texas. Even Ryanair treats you better than Southwest does, and for cheaper. They may have changed since I last flew with them, but there are EU laws that help keep the prices down inside Europe which is part of the reason Ryanair can be as cheap as it is.smoni wrote: I wondered if there's a similar system on domestic US flights? I can ask my brother, he's planning to go over to visit his girlfriend for the first time (they met on tumblr). So he's currently looking through flights.

Nothing even close to that cheap. Booking flights earlier helps. Doing research and going to different websites should help. It can be cheaper to have stops that happen between the destination and origin. Flying is just expensive and a pain in the butt here. Always taking shoes off and getting scanned. Bleh

Something my boss will do is look at return flights, even if he doesn't need them. I think when he flew from Paris to London a few weeks ago he saved about £80 by booking a return (I think his return flight London-Paris is sometime in July) No idea if this helps anyone!

Yeah, round-trip is often cheaper than one-way in the US. In general, mass travel is overpriced, while travel by car is cheap because of government oil subsidies. We live in bizzaro world.
