I need help with logo ideas

Post by tnitnetny »

So I told everyone about my Craft Hackers site and picked your brain about some of the features and services. The next thing I need help with is a logo. I am out of ideas. The catchphrase we have is "Crafting a better world". The only logos I can think of are:

A plush world that has a needle and thread stitching it up. - This may be too "cutesy" and kind of limited in crafts.
The name Craft Hackers spelled out in thread or yarn but the H is made of needles - cool, but limited in crafts represented.

Something that could represent just "crafting". You think I would get more ideas working at Michaels but I don't.

What about a toppled basket with various crafting things spilled out of it? Like paint, yarn, pliers, thread?

I don't know, it just seems like it could help cover more of a variety of crafts.

This definately! The spilled items can spell out words.

If you're thinking the logo might end up being used in a variety of locations (e.g. website, conventions...) you may want to try to keep it relatively simple. If it were me, I'd be minimising the number of colours and elements to make it easily reproducible in a variety of media. Saying that, I'm not sure I have a concrete idea to suggest, so please ignore me if I'm being more hindrance than help!

See, that's my problem! I know it should be relatively simple and easily reproducible, but I am just out of ideas. I love the idea of a basket spilling full of crafts, but it may be too complicated. That's why I thought of just spelling it in yarn and needles, but that is limiting. Ugh!

My quiltoni one was so easy! Just make a q that looks quilted. Bam. This one is just so tough to think of something good.

Not sure if this would be too complicated, but you could take your world idea. Instead of making it just plush with a needle stitching it, you could have it in sections and each section be a different craft. Part quilted, part painted, part knitted, part perler, etc.

Also, when I first heard 'Craft Hackers' I pictured an old school computer monitor with Matrix-y looking balls of yarn and beads and stuff on the screen. haha

Ooooo, the computer idea is really cute. We will draw that one out too and see what it looks like.

I picture 1's & 0's matrix style but that doesn't really represent the craft part.

Instead of 1's and 0's, how about crafty items? Needles/thread and balls of wool/splodges of paint?

Ok, so I think we figured out a logo. Thank you for your help!! Nicole is going to work on it this week and when it's done I will post it here to see what you think.
