<3 <3 <3 Love this thread. Streaming has been so much fun and I met so many amazing people. Can't believe I was so shy at first and scared.

I enjoy the streams when I have the opportunity to watch them! I also kinda envy the confidence you guys have. I don't think I could stream my stitching and it's mostly because if I had to speak, nobody would understand what I was saying! (Terribly strong regional accent, lol)
I'll be sure to make more time to check out all the new streamers :D

Since Twitch recently changed the layout of the site and the discovery of Creative streams, I'm updating my post with new links to the relevant categories:

https://www.twitch.tv/communities/crossstitch is the main Cross Stitch community on Twitch.

Other communities you may find interesting:
https://www.twitch.tv/communities/Embroidery
https://www.twitch.tv/communities/Knitting
https://www.twitch.tv/communities/Crochet
https://www.twitch.tv/communities/perler

Note that a lot of streamers are still learning of this transition and may still use the old hashtag system for a little while. If noone is live, you can try the old link: https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Cr ... rossstitch

Thanks to everyone who has shown interest in watching these Cross Stitch streams, even if you just lurk and never say a thing. All streamers are appreciative of any time you've spent watching their content.

Those who have taken the plunge to stream themselves will be more than happy to tell you that it's not as scary as it seems at first. If you've been considering streaming and need tips, advice, technical instructions, or anything - just ask! All the Creative streamers I've seen are friendly, welcoming, and more than glad to answer any questions. If you're not sure - you can message me directly.

You don't even need to show your face if you're concerned. And despite BlackMageHeart's concern about accents, I'm sure there would be plenty interested in seeing your progress. One thing I'm constantly amazed by is how differently everyone stitches. I've been stitching most my life and I've still managed to pick up new tips/tricks/ideas from watching all sorts of people stitch.

At the time of writing this, I have a list of over 60 people who have broadcast their cross stitch. And I hope to put this list together into something more presentable to share with you soon.

I was thinking about streaming my cross stitch. I had a friend who lived near me to help. He has to do more work on computer before I can start streaming. I have chatted a little to people who stream. I have lurked more that chat. It was interesting to watch people cross stitch. I watched a couple people do stuff. One was doing bags and another was doing wallets and a apron. It is amazing to see people do creative stuff.

I have been really considering streaming. Just not sure how to set it all up. I will need to get some cameras and maybe a second monitor. Since I am ill, all I do is stitch so I figured it would be nice to have others to talk to.

One camera is sufficient - not everyone does face cam, or doesn't start with one.
Depends on what you want to do/what you're comfortable with.

Second monitor is nice, but not absolutely necessary. I've seen some stream off a small laptop before. :)
There's a million articles out there on the nitty gritty of getting started, programs to use, how to set it up, what to put on your layout, etc.

Main advice I would offer is be a viewer first. Get to know how the Twitch community works, what you can expect from other viewers, learn the lingo and inside jokes, get a sense of the site if you haven't already, etc. And you know, make friends. 'cause they'll be the first to show up to your streams. ;)

If you have specific questions, I'm always happy to help, or can try and point you in the right direction.
I don't check SpriteStitch as often as I'd like though, so Twitter or Insta may be a faster way to get in touch if need be. <3

I'm also thinking of streaming now, it looks fun :) At the moment I'm just following people and seeing how everyone approaches it. I'm also not sure how to talk continuously about nothing particular, so I'm thinking of starting by streaming games while I get the hang of it, and figure out things like: what is discourse, whats with all the flying graphics everywhere, and why is there several minutes lag on comments going through?

Twitch only ever seems to list one or two streams running for stitching or crochet (I go through the communities pages), is there something I'm missing or is it really this quiet?
