Christmas Patterns?

Post by Stephi.Rose »

Hey Everyone,

I'm new (kinda obvious, I'm sure, lol), and have been cross-stitching something I found off of this site for my Fiance for Christmas. (Will not say what I'm cross-stitching him, as he has recently started coming to this website as well, lol.)

My fiance and I just recently moved out together (well it's been quite a few months now), and this Christmas will be our first Christmas in our own place and I'm wanting to do some cross-stitch Christmas tree ornaments. Gaming ones too, of course. I want to do that Mario in the sock, though I would like to make it a little bit bigger than what I have found on this site, if anyone can make it bigger for me? Or tell me how I can maybe do that on my own?

Also, I would love for people to post their own Christmas patterns? Gaming or non-game ones are welcome....

Thanks a bunch, =D

Last year's challenge has a few good examples: http://spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=257

Scaling is really hard on cross stitch patterns. The only way I know to make something bigger is to use a larger count fabric - something stitched on 14ct is a lot bigger than 22ct for example - or to use 4 squares for each pixel instead of one.

Like this:

Original
XXXOO
OOXXX

Four squares
XXXXXXOOOO
XXXXXXOOOO
OOOOXXXXXX
OOOOXXXXXX

It's kind of complicated to do on the fly, especially on large patterns. You'd almost want to rechart it on KG Stitch or something just to make sure you got it right.
