Majora's Mask

Post by DWgrrl »

Hey guys i was wondering if you could help me with this pattern i am trying to create, it seems like it is too small and with out alto of details, used that program, which isn't mac compatible so i had to use it on a windows emulator. I have only done pre made patterns so this is my first time attempting one i made. also i am self tough too, and could you tell me what CT means?

Generally, when you make a pattern from a photo you are doing one stitch per pixel.
As this image is HUGE, the pattern will be gigantic to get all the detail from the source image.
A suggestion would be to resize your original image so that you can do one stitch per pixel.
It will still probably be a very large pattern though.

CT refers to "count".
14 ct. fabric means that there are 14 stitches per inch.
18 ct. is 18 stitches per inch, etc.

Hope this helps. =]

I resized the image to 100x120 and got this out of the KG-Chart program:

This is 62 colours (jpeg images are usually very detailed with a lot of colours).
The final size will measure about 7"x8.5" for 14 ct. fabric.

To use the image you posted, the width would be 370 and the height 630 to make the pattern one stitch per pixel.
It is up to you how big you want the final piece to be.
At 370x630 it would be 26.5"x45"...very very large.
So if you let me know what size you want the project to be, I can try to make the pattern for you if you want.
Cheers. =]

I saved riotpatch's pic, and imported it into KG Chart and got this.
Colors: 22
Total Count: 68139, but it made the background into stitches.
Hope it helps.

If you mean inches, then the smallest I could find was 24.2 inches, which is about 2 feet, and that's with 28 count fabric! With 14 count, it's something like 4 feet.
The smaller you make the pattern, the less detailed the picture will be, so you might have to balance the level of detail yo want with the size you want.

Also, if a moderator could move this to pattern requests, that'd be great.

I have reported on original poster, so it should take care of.

Oh no, that was a screenshot of the full size pattern scaled down.

Anyway, here is the pattern that comes out to 7"x12" for 14 ct. fabric (I messed up my inch calculation in an above post, sorry):

To make it under 10", use 18 count fabric, then the final size will be 5.5"x9.5".

Ohhh, I made a pattern of a pattern... I love redundency, or is that ironic? Hmm, oh well, glad it all worked out.
