Re: Charity Quilt(s) 2013
So I have probably a "duh" question, but I just wanted to make absolutely sure that in doing this correctly. The quilt needs to be 96x96 stitches, so if I crop my picture in GIMP to be 96x96 pixels, that should be perfect right? It just seems so weird because I see how much detail you guys are able to fit into that small amount of space and then when I try it, my pattern looks terrible
samarin, I really love your vesperia pattern and in wondering how you made it look so crisp? You say you used paint.net, but how big was the original picture you used? And how did you find and settle on a picture that you knew would turn out well? Gah! I feel like I'm missing out on some holy grail method for pattern making when I look at patterns like yours and Izzy's Lightning one!

I usually don't crop my images at all in paint.net. I import the whole picture, usually at half of what kg charts says (so if it says 299, i usually go with 125-150)...just keep experimenting till the picture looks decent in kg chart. then i shave down rows of pixels using the chart > chart size option. Hope that helps. If you would like to post a picture, or pm me i could try to make a pattern for you if you are still needing some help.monkeypeaches wrote:So I have probably a "duh" question, but I just wanted to make absolutely sure that in doing this correctly.
