SpriteStitch table at a retro game con
I'm going to get a table at this convention this summer, and I was wondering if any other SpriteStitch-ers may be interested?
http://classicgamefest.com/ It's July 13-14 in Austin, TX.
I have a couple of options in mind. If anyone is from central TX or would want to come in person, we could set up a SS table and hang out for a couple days. If you aren't able to make it in person but would like to have a chance to sell some of your wares at a show, you could mail them to me and I could send you back your profits/leftover goods. Obviously this would take some belief on your part that I won't rip you off, but hopefully you'd trust that I'm legit. Tables are $100. I have an "in" with the people hosting, so I'm getting my table for $50. Maybe if we want a second table, I could convince them to do that for $50 as well, but I have to pay by April 30th.
If you are interested in either of these options, post or PM me for address deets. Even if you don't want to sell, if you're in the area that weekend feel free to stop by my table! I'd love to meet some folks IRL.

Sadly, a *little* too far for me.
I really need to find craft shows and other events where I can rent a table for non-absurd prices!

Re: SpriteStitch table at a retro game con
It's closer to me but unfortunately I don't have the funds to go down there for it. And while I would love to sell some stuff there, I don't have anything made up nor do I have the slightest idea what to make to send.

haha, absolutely anything can (and probably will!) sell. I've done framed stitches, towels, jewelry, perler bead magnets, coasters, etc. Here was my table at the show I did in March:
So think about it; if you have free time before July, make anything you like and send it to me!

$100 is actually a great price for a con Yurtle. I am used to paying $150-$300 for a table.
This distance is far, but I would still consider it, if I didn't have a convention the following weekend already though. I am already taxing myself by having a convention June, July, and then August. Good luck though!

I will definitely think it over and see what I come up with. I might even talk to the bf and see what he thinks!

Re: SpriteStitch table at a retro game con
Will you be representing Sprite Stitch in general or will you just be focusing on your own stuff?
It would be awesome to spread the word of spritestitch, I still see too many people refering to stitching as an old granny hobby and uncool, we need to get rid of this stereotype.
May be good to do a leaflet about the site and what the forum gets up to etc. Perhaps get some of our top people giving quotes as to what they think of the place. Not to mention the fact that this is truely the home of the epic pokemon stitch, it's well known over the web and it can bring in recognition. Plus a mention of the charity work we do can help gain interest for the upcoming auction, that also helps spread the word of Childs Play, perhaps have a bit about the charity in the leaflet.
As for items to sell, I'll have a think, the main problem is getting it to you in time, usually held up in customs etc. I assume theres no issues of copyright when they are one off pieces?
I wish you well with this!

If it's just me by myself, I'll do my own stuff, but I'd be happy to have a leaflet as well. If we get others and I get a second table, we could dedicate it to SS. I haven't had any copyright issues, since it's in the grey area of art.

Re: SpriteStitch table at a retro game con
Yeah, I don't think $100 is absurb but I live in Toronto. Most of the big shows around here cost thousands, not hundreds, for a table. That's what I'm talking about. I need to find the granny events, I think!tnitnetny wrote:$100 is actually a great price for a con Yurtle. I am used to paying $150-$300 for a table.

There's no way I'd be able to consider it. With the cost of travel, my little projects wouldn't even come close to covering it. Plus, I'm in Utah the weekend after for a Stampin' Up convention!
