I'm thinking about signing up for a second square but can't decide which idea I want to do. What do you guys think?

I'd choose Mercury's transformation but knowing DMC's colour palette, you might be better off with Tuxedo Kamen!

Looking great Jadely and Funkymonkey.

I agree with Shazbang that Funkymonkey's back is insanely neat! :swoon:

I guess that is an advantage of block colours.

I think that Tuxedo Kamen would be a better choice unless you lighten up the mercury one. Otherwise you'll more than likely get a LOT of dark blues and blacks thru the whole thing and you won't be able to tell what it is.

I tossed Mercury into KG chart to see what colors it would pick and here's the list and an image showing them as presented on the pdf of the DMC color chart.

As much as I prefer the Mercury image as a square, it's looking like the color worries are valid. So I'm gonna sign up for Tuxie as a second square. Thanks for your input guys! I always forget how much the DMC blues blend into each other, so thanks for the reminder.

Haha, thanks. I'm really picky about keeping stitches running in the same direction (read: crazy). For this one, every block of every color I stitched from left to right, top to bottom, one row at a time. I think this keeps the stitches from tugging in different directions on the front or looking generally uneven. It's easy (comparatively) to do with giant blocks of color; confetti stitches are a nightmare to me and my OCD brain.

Funkymonkey I know exactly what you mean about confetti stitches being a nightmare. Constant color changing actually scares me so I've never made a pattern that requires it yet. I actually don't get bored by stitching large blocks of color, rather I find it very ryrhmic and calming. But I'm leaving my comfort zone for this charity quilt square and doing a pattern with a LOT of confetti stitching required. We'll see how it goes!

Shanoa, I think the Tuxedo Kamen square is going to look really great in the quilt! The angle and close up cropping of his face is very striking. Can't wait to see it finished!

Because I wanted a ton of detail in mine, I think it has about 174 colors and a ton of confetti stitches. That's slowing me down quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to the nice huge blocks of color in my SMB 2 block. ^_^
