Everyone is correct, you need to avoid backsticthing and french knots. The squares need to be regular simple squares of cross stitch and nothing else. Embellishments may catch and pull like it was stated.

I found this picture I quite like, would it be ok? Or is it too bland?
If its ok can someone create the pattern for me please?

Is there a particular brand of aida cloth that people are finding in the proper dimensions? I have some excess 16 ct from various projects that I was checking and I have some Charles Craft and some DMC and they're both off. If you have used either of those, please let me know...I may have gotten some funny batches.

The backstitching I put in is one section of 1st by 2st to make a mouth, and french knots for eyes. If I could do quarter stitches for this instead it would still be okay, otherwise the character will look a little weird (but hopefully still recognizable). The french knots could easily enough be changed to quarter and/or backstitching overtop, or I can just do away with the details.tnitnetny wrote:Everyone is correct, you need to avoid backsticthing and french knots. The only program I have is MS Paint. If it has this kind of feature I don't know how to use it.blackmageheart wrote:Try increasing the brightness of the image in an editing program before importingstitchandpaddle wrote:EDIT: I threw my other picture into KG Chart and it came out incredibly dark- is there a way to lighten it a bit without changing every pixel by hand?

This is the picture I'm working from:

Hey stitchandpaddle, I hope you don't mind if I tried my hand at it. I put it through my Paint.net and adjusted the brightness of your picture and came up with this chart. It does look better to my eye but if it doesn't meet want you're wanting let me know and I'll do some more adjustments to it.

First pattern for the quilt from Snake, Rattle, 'n Roll from NES. Sorry I couldn't make it a PDF or something else, but I'm no good at converting stuff, but there's a picture, too. Albeit, it's a poor one, but you get the idea. Yes, LOTS of black and I know I'll have to stitch it all, but I'm fine with that.

LinkIsMyHomeboy, I haven't thought of Snake Rattle 'n roll since I was a kid!
I had a play around with the pic I had a few pages back - is this better? I'm playing with charting it out on KG-chart at the moment.
Edit: Here's the file, if someone can check the colours for me?

I'm really excited to be a part of this this year, as I joined sprite stich just as everyone was sending in there squares for the last lot.
This is the scene I am going to do, and I have already made up a pattern, but I am currently trying to finish all of the black on my epic second gen pokemon cross-stitch before the end of the year. Will start working on it in 2013.

I have used both, although I don't have any with me right now.LinkIsMyHomeboy wrote:Is there a particular brand of aida cloth that people are finding in the proper dimensions? Have you measured up? How off are they?
