That's a good deal since they retail for about $2 a spool and few non-internet shops carry them. I knew I'd seen colored thread before but I forgot it was Kreinik! Looks like the make a #4 braid too not just blending filaments (which are really thin).

I've never used blending filament before...is that not actual thread? It's something you add to thread to give it the effect you desire? (metallic, glow...)

Also, and I know this isn't really related, but not sure I want to purchase from that eBay seller...I looked at her feedback and she sends religious pamphlets with her orders?! No thanks.

Anywho...my idea doesn't require glow thread in other colors, but I thought it would be super cool to have for a future project and I have a little money sitting in my Paypal account :D

I wasn't exactly sure what a blending filament was, but I figured if it was too thin I could just double up =)

I didn't notice that when I glanced at her feedback... I am not a huge fan of christians trying to force their point of view on others, it gives the rest of us a bad name, but I wouldn't use it as a reason not to buy from someone, as long as their product and service is good. You can always throw out the pamphlet.

Hopefully I can use this for an epic first challenge entry :nod I have a few ideas brewing... hopefully I will have time with exams and end of semester reports looming  Engineering is hard...

It's called a blending filament but it's really just a fine thread. You can tweed it with other threads (gives a nice random-ish effect) or you can use it on its own for stitching or embroidery.

You can do that, nothing to stop you! :D

Yup - it's a thin thread, like one strand of DMC floss so doubling it up should work. I've used them before with one strand of dmc and 1 blending filament - gives a really nice effect :) It's a little tricky to work with, make sure you keep the tension a little looser than normal.

Engineering is hard! I work at an Engineering Library and I always feel sorry for the students when they are cramming for exams. Good luck!

I just checked, and she does have more for sale. It says that there are 6 available. I'm very tempted to purchase it... :nod
Also, I noticed that ebay changed it's logo. It's kind of strange. It's very plain now.

I have ordered the 6 different colours of glow in the dark thread from here - http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran504-0.html

Only ordered it yesterday and already it has been dispatched so I am now at the mercy of the British postal system but hopefully it will come today :Pray

Edited to say the threads have arrived! Brilliant service - ordered yesterday lunchtime on standard first class post delivery and arrived this lunchtime! Can't ask for more!

Soooo, my pattern is a tad bigger than I thought it was... 10x7 didn't SOUND that big  I have finished the part, that if all else fails, I can take a picture of and turn it in. But I'm going to try my hardest to finish the whole thing.
