If you have a manual way to set your exposure as long as possible (like, greater than 1 second) it will make it appear brighter. Maybe your camera has a pre-set setting for night portrait (but turn the flash off). You will also need to hold it impossibly still, so if you don't have a tripod, i recommend getting a box or something to set the camera on so you don't have to hold it that still.

If you're using a phone and can't manipulate the exposure length/shutter speed, you may be able to enhance the brightness/contrast in graphics software. If you aren't sure how to do that, PM your image to me and I can tweak it before you post your project if you want :D

Well I am disappointed by the craft supply stores in my area. No glow-in-the-dark thread to speak of. I'll get the next one, then.

The Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's near me keep a pretty good stock of standard glow thread (white that glows green). If anyone would like me to pick some up for them and send it to you, send me a PM and we can work out details.

THe only way I got even remotely good pic was this:

1. Set your camera to a night photo setting.

2. you can "charge" your glow thread with light. So hold your piece like 6 to 12 inches away from light source for about 30 seconds.

3. As fast as possible, turn off light and take picture.

4. try not to move until your camera takes the photo. As you are taking a very dark picture and trying to capture something that doesn't stand out as much as say a flame(relatively low light) you camera is going to have a longer capture time meaning that it takes more time for the camera eye to close. Plan on anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds.

PS- I would also suggest having your sounds on as that was the only way you will be able to tell if the camera has taken the picture short of it displaying on it's screen.

 Sorry for such a long explanation! Hope it helps!

My only problem with doing something like this, is that I'd be paying in Canadian money, which we all know is not really money. :P Especially since we started making it out of plastic.

I did find a quilting store in Arnprior that has carried glow-in-the-dark thread before, but the owner said it's been back-ordered for a very long time. Perhaps if they get some in before the end of November, but there will always be another challenge. And swaps. :D

I don't have any ideas as of yet, but I might have just accidently bought 6 reels of glow in the dark thread from ebay  now I just have until it comes to come up with something good
