If its going to be sold, and for charity should we maybe include the charity name/logo and maybe even include the Sprite Stitch name?

If it gets limited to 1 square per character/game, maybe we could also include console logos or systems/controller images? I don't know how to explain this... I hope someone understands me :)
Oh like :NES :gb :atari as stitchings
After all, whoever buys it could like anything!

Could we do more than 1 square each?

Or maybe we could have one image that gets divided into squares for people to stitch and then they all get put together like a mosaic?

Most charity lap quilts have about 12 squares each.
material : 6 X 6 inches (15cms x 15cms) minimum square
design size: 4 X 4 (10cms x 10cms) inches or below.
Gives the person sewing 2 inches of space.

Since we had a huge exchange last month -- I'm sure we could make a few quilts!!
It would be better then one quilt --

I lurk more then post but I'd definitely be in for this. I like DMLC's suggestion because if we do get tons of people contributing it could turn into a massive quilt and possibly a headache for whoever puts it together plus we could always group it by game type like having one with side scrollers one with space games one with ninjas...

Another thing to consider is the cost of fabric for whoever does quilt them together. I have only made like two quilts before but decent fabric can start to add up so it might be something to think about since some people might not mind putting the time in to sew it together but might not be able to afford all the fabric and batting for it.

p.s. if we are claiming I'd like River City Ransom... I promise a nice friendly stitch :nod
A Stitch is Worth... How much is a stitch worth?

if we do the quilt idea, maybe we coukd each send a few bucks with our square to help cover cost of fabric?

i love the idea of making more than one quilt. sounds great to me. And personally i prefer the idea of different square than one big picture divided, it kind of lose the quilt aspect and the fun of saying "i've done this part!" As for count i would go with aida 18 since it's easy to find in store and it looks great.
Sorry about my english, french is my primary language!

If we got enough people we could probably separate the quilts or whatever it will be by system or bit count or even half-decade. For example one quilt could have all the NES/8-bit games and another could have SNES/Genisis/16-bit games.

I love this idea, and so does my Fiance. We've personally donated to Child's Play a couple years ago for christmas (we couldn't last year due to lack of funds :(), we can't wait to start this idea.

My fiance would like to claim Link, lol. Personally, I have no clue what I will do yet, but I'm also going to wait until we know for sure what the end idea/product will be =)

I can already see a fight waiting to happen so if this is going to be a viable idea we need to figure out a friendly way of claiming what we want to do. If I knew that people were already making dibs when the idea was even fully formed I would of called dibs on specific characters when this was part of the Nov/Dec idea bank!

yeh, no dibs as of yet. I think we should just put all the names in a bit old hat and all the games and simply pick one from each. 'Your name gets a game' or something... :P
I like the idea of splitting the quilt up to two or more. I think we should work out how to split them (8 and 16 bit I think is best), work out the count (14?), and then see who's doing what game.

thanks for the offer celebriwen.
I also agree that we should send some money with our pattern to buy the fabric for the quilt.

Everyone cool with that?
So how should we split them?
