Oh snap, Sasha! We'll have to compare notes. Like...how sick are you of all these bushes?? I swear I could make them in my sleep now.

PS. Sick Stormtrooper, by the way! I tried that Pixel Hobby once, really cool possibilities...but too small for me. Just didn't have the patience. Kudos!

Wow. I have so many questions...
How much did all this cost? Did you fuse it all together after you completed the components? Where is it now? Did you make the patterns yourself?
It's quite amazing.

Hey Starrley,

There were a few big steps in the process of making Project Springfield.
1. Designing the layout of the town. Springfield changes from episode to episode so I tried to do my best to include as many landmarks as I could and still have the layout make some sense.
The Box Factory is across the street from KrustyLu studios (as seen in Bart Gets Famous), Flanders is next door to the Simpsons, King Toot's is next to Moe's...etc..

2. I looked up all the buildings I needed and pretty much eyeballed many of them, doing my best to keep them in scale + have the right perspective. It wasn't easy. Springfield has some weird architecture! Then it was just a matter of choosing the right colors and making each indidvual building (obviously, this was the most time consuming step. It took almost 2 years.)

3. Putting them all together! I used Black Foam Core as the base/streets to hold everything together. There are about 13 layers in the projects, which gives it a really coop depth affect. Something that really needs to be seen in person. RIght now, it's just on my living room wall, as you can see in the videos below, but I'd LOVE to get it out in a public space somewhere. Anywhere.

I highly recommend you check out my Kickstarter video here, it shows me making Springfield Elementary is super-fast speed!

And we have the official unveiling video here. Enjoy! Please let me know what you think!

Very interesting. And I agree, the first 8 seasons were the best. :D

I have completed almost 6 out of 20 baseplates for my map, but for now I have set it aside. I'm working on something for the August challenge! I can't wait to see the finished map from perler beads, though!
