Using GIMP to make patterns

Has anyone else used Gimp to make Cross Stitch patterns?
I was goofing off tonight, and found a couple of plugins that can make Gimp produce patterns. I tripped over Cross stitchify while looking for something else, but I couldn't get it to work out properly. While trying to find out more about it and how it works, I discovered a script for Tapestry. I didn't try that program because it doesn't produce symbols or colour charts, but as a result of finding Tapestry, I found Stit-ch-art. So far I really like it. You can't edit easily after you've converted it, but it works out fine for me so far.
Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else had explored Gimp's Cross stitch plugins and if they had any success with it.
