I am having issues doing the same thing. It isn't too much extra work to just scan them back in though. You have to print them anyways to work from them.
I bought the patterns I put on here from someone selling them on ebay. They closed the store down they had on there. I don't know how they made them. I scaned them using a scanner hooked to the computer then I used photobucket to put them on here.
I have found that CutePDF makes it easier to make pdf files. It's a small program that you install and it adds another option to your list of printers. If you use that option then you can save the file as a pdf instead of printing it. Basically, any program that has a print function becomes a pdf writer.
