I tried my hand at making a pattern for these but my program left a lot of messy bits. johloh, do you have to do a lot of clean-up when making patterns, or is your program just really nice?

oh yeah, there was a ton of cleanup on these...perfect screenshots of nes games are solid, but anything else needs cleanup. jpegs often have compression which comes out as different floss colors, so you just gotta go through and simplify.

I just look at the list of colors and pick two that are close to identical and clear one out, then move on...till each color is different enough to be worthwhile in the pattern.

for example, king boo in that pattern has 2 shades of gray in his shadow...which I think is part of the original image..the auto pattern had about 4 shades in it which was no good, so you just gotta go in and clean it out. tedious, but necessary.

So it is a lot of work... thanks for the tips

At the paw and the ear I've added backstitches and french knots for the eyes.
