I had to post and commend your courage, i just finished a Middle earth map of ink on leather its full size is 34x40 and it was exhausting, i also finished a Thror's map a bit ago, you can see them at my site www.wyldewares.com, but more than that if you need a picture of a specific area to make a pattern for i can send you a zoomed in pic of the area. it might not be the greatest but its better than looking from afar

I thought the original design was huge (I struggle with anything more than about 100x100 )

After reading this, I have been wanting to do something with the LOTR middle earth map. But I would never finish a cross stitch that big. So, I have used a similar map, blown up about 200% and am going to embroider the map onto a piece of fabric that I have tea stained. Just need to borrow a light box and can get the design across.
