I thought that picture looked familiar! If you look in the Techniques/Guides forum and choose Using KG Chart and making patterns. Scroll down to making patterns out of non-sprites and there's your picture! I'm sure there's a pattern around here somewhere if you don't want to try it yourself.
I've dabbled in trying to make my own pattern out of pictures with not wonderful results, love to find an already existing pattern for it, I don't know if it's the program I'm using or if there is a knack to it that I don't have lol.
18 count, and about the same size as the Helmeroc King pattern that you have on the go would be great since I will be doing both of them, and no more than 100 colors would be wonderful but I'm not worried about a limit, go big or go home right? lol
oh and in a PDF format would be great if it's possible.

Ok, first picture is from PC Stitch and has 100 colours. Second picture is from KG Chart and has 93 colours. I haven't done any clean-up on them, these are just straight imports into the programs. They should come to 9 x 13.4 inches big, which is slightly taller than my Helmeroc King pattern. I think the KG Chart one came out looking slightly clearer, but one problem is the different colours the different programs assign to the thread numbers. Let me know which one you prefer and if you want anything changing on the pattern (made clearer, for example) and I'll get a pattern put up.
the second one from KG chart looks wonderful actually, and I agree it does look much clearer, doesn't look like it needs much changed with it actually, a little bit clearer in the corners but that's all I see.
Really REALLY appreciate your help! And will be sure to post pictures of the progress!

I've cleaned up the edges, making it a clean black and white frame, and I've also tried to keep the inner white frame as well. The size should be now slightly less the what I said before as I cropped out the outer white frame. The borders aren't exactly the same width, but I can't change that without re-doing the entire pattern.
