Pattern Help Needed

Post by Fortesgospel »

Hello,
I need some help with a megaman pattern. I want to make some blankets so I need to be able to see each pixel so I know how many squares I need, and I've never tried anything like this before so I have no clue where to start since the sprites are all so small. ANY help at all would be loved!

First one I need is Bass from the Megaman series when he first merges with treble. It's the second set of sprites, second row and fifth sprite in: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/Classic/Bass/BF16/

Next I wanted to get protoman. The sprite I want is in the second row down and is the seventh sprite in: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/Clas ... toman/PBF/

Last is Zero. If you go all the way down to the bottom of the page it's the first sprite on the third row going up: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/X/Zello/X1-X3/

There was a nice 'how-to' for this on the frontpage but i can't find it and link it, so I'll explain it for you. Because I am a little bored and it's nice to teach people how to fish.
First download the nice and functional programs GIMP and KG-chart.

Take the image you want to use (In your case: http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/Clas ... 7sheet.gif) and open that little piece in GIMP.
Mark out the sprite, spot, part, whatever that you want to use. If you want to use the whole image, skip this step.
The simplest way to do this is to mark the wanted region with the marking tool and then right-click it and click Image -> "Crop to selection" (At least I think that is what it is called, I use the Swedish version.)

Then use the ordinary painting tools to take out blemishes and other not wanted parts.
You might wanty to colour the BG in a different bright colour that is not used in the stitching. As to separate it from the white parts.

When you are happy with the result, save it in .png or .bmp format. I prefer these two as .jpg smothes out edges. Annoying.
Note the pixel-size of the image.

Open up KG-chart. Go to File -> Import. Select your saved picture. Enter the pixel size in the little boxes marked "Width (ct)" and "Height (ct)". CT is for count i belive. Not dracula. Cloth count.

Then you are done. Couldn't be more simple.

Take care.
